I understand Jimbo's emotions.

I knew one of those Marines. We were best friends from kindergarten through sixth grade then we drifted apart. I didn't know where he was until I saw the his name and our hometown scroll down (or up) the screen on Nightline.

He had been a drifter and a quasi-biker until he got his act together and joined the Marines just short of the age limit. His name now adorns a black granite monument outside our county courthouse and on a white cross erected in our city on Veteran's Day and Memorial Day. He is remembered and honored, unlike the sleeze shown in the photo.

I agree, on-the-rocks. Several of my family members and friends have served. They served so that the freedoms we enjoy may be maintained. One of those freedoms is the right to speak freely. Unfortunately, free speech is a heavy burden, as some people who speak freely have really wacky, often offensive ideas. Seeing signs like this hurts our feelings because we cherish the sacrifice that these brave men and women have made for the greater good of the country we love. I think this is one of the major dividers between us and the Left... we love this country... we love what it stands for. It's this deep-seated loathing that the Left has for what this country is and was that inspires them to destroy it and remake it into what they think will be some kind of socialist wonderland. But that's their right... the right to think freely... to speak freely. And I'd have to say that I'd jump to this whacko's defense if anyone threatened his rights to speak freely. And deep down, I know you all would too. That's another one of the things that separates us from them. We'd actually let them say what they have to say, unlike many of the nutjobs we've all seen who try to disrupt legal counter-protests that people on the Right have organized. What's good for some is what's good for all.

Given that Communism and its ideological bretheren, fascism and national socialism, had no issue with militarism and/or aggressive behavior, it isn't correct to say that they hate the military. They hate the fact that they don't control the military and that most (if not all) military personell would never agree with their views.
