Obama: U.S. Military Armed by Taliban

Let's just say I doubt it:

B.O. forgot to mention how our soldiers feed themselves by hunting for roots and berries.

On a tip from Wiggins.

Comments

Why?

Are you under the impression that this has all been a coordinated, well-oiled occupation?

Because that would be news to most of the twoops themselves...

Posted by: hashfanatic at February 22, 2008 10:04 AM

The Taliban uses Soviet and Iranian weaponry, whose ammunition is incompatible with that used by our troops. Standard NATO ammunition is 5.56 mm. But the Taliban use AK-47's, which use 7.62mm ammunition.

Yes, our troops capture enemy supplies and equipment. It's kind of what they're supposed to be doing.

This is why I'm not that worried about Obama. The man is an idiot, an affirmative-action hire for the Democrats.

Posted by: V the K at February 22, 2008 10:21 AM

Then, there's this...

Captains don’t command platoons, Second, we don’t split platoons between Iraq and Afghanistan, not even companies, battalions, or brigades. Sometimes divisions but by then you’re talking about a 12-15,000 man organization so splits make sense. Done it since WWI at that level and even below. The idea that one of the lowest level organizations in the army (a 40 person platoon) is split between a war with 40,000 troops in it and another war with 120,000 is beyond silly.

Posted by: V the K at February 22, 2008 10:24 AM

It doesn't matter what tripe comes from the lips of the Prophet Braaaaaack - silly little liberals wet themselves at the sound of his voice.

Posted by: Jimbo at February 22, 2008 10:36 AM

The captured equipment is most likely turned over to the Iraq and Afghanistan governments who already use old Soviet equipment.

Barrack reminds me of the cartoon character BRAK.

"The show is about Brak's suburban life with his alien mother and Cuban father. "

Posted by: Anonymous at February 22, 2008 11:30 AM

My guess is Obama doesn't know an Army Captain from a Navy Captain and doesn't know a platoon from a division. Not that it's a concern to a voting democrat. In fact, having no knowledge of military matters probably enhances his cachet with many if not most democrats.

Hashhole would NEVER dare spew his/her/it's psychotic anti-military hate in the presence of an active duty service person.

Posted by: Refuter of Liberal Vermin at February 22, 2008 12:04 PM

Jake Tapper claims to have contacted the "captain" who passed the story to B.O. The "captain" remains anonymous, so no one can fact-check his story... but if he is telling the truth he confirms some basics, such as a platoon losing some members prior to deployment, although he can't confirm the members who were re-assigned went to Iraq. He confirms that the unit captured Taliban equipment, but the idea that they had to do so in order to keep fighting isn't what a stickler would call true. They were short on some kinds of equipment in 2003 such as up-armored HUMVEES, but so was *everybody* because of production bottlenecks. And they ran short of certain kinds of ammunition, but that's part and parcel to operating in a remote theater.

Posted by: V the K at February 22, 2008 12:38 PM

The thing to remember about marxfanatic and smaller, dumber marxfanatic is that their objection does not lie in the *way* we are fighting Islamists... but in the fact that we are fighting Islamists at all. (Because 911 was an inside job, Bush is Hitler doing the bidding of the neocons {i.e. Jews}

Posted by: V the K at February 22, 2008 2:53 PM

If America has degenerated enough to elect Obama I wonder if he will be able to hold off surrendering to the Islamists until he takes the oath of office.

Posted by: steve at February 22, 2008 3:25 PM

Wait, does this mean that B.O. is indirectly making the case for MORE FUNDING FOR THE TROOPS in order to avoid such hardware shortfalls?

Still doesn't change the fact that the whole Iraq occupation has been a failure, the escalation failed to accomplish its primary objective, and the twoops failed the nation in general.

A certain amount of that can be blamed on the brass upstairs, and a certain amount of the carnage can be blamed on Scumfeld's unwillingness to properly arm and outfit the twoops themselves and properly deploy them, but at some point the administration must be held accountable for this catastrophically expensive debacle, held for the benefit of other principalities and powers.

Posted by: hashfanatic at February 22, 2008 8:20 PM

have another glass of kool-aid, hash. Guess your just mad cuz you party controls COngress and we are STILL in Iraq. Much like a one night stand, Pelosi, Reid, et al, told you what you wanted to hear, got what they wanted from you and didn't even so much as leave their phone number on the night stand.

Posted by: johndoe at February 22, 2008 8:38 PM

First off, I don't have a "party". I have a "side".

Just because I am dedicated to your total annihilation doesn't mean I hold any particular allegiance to any different, equally meaningless camp.

Secondly, the Democratic Congress is guilty of gutlessness for not standing up to the neocons re: impeachment, immediate withdrawal from Iraq, immediate defunding of twoops, etc., but the pure fact of the matter is the only reason they haven't been able to straighten the rest of the country's affairs out are the traitorous, obstructionist Rethugs on the other side of the aisle.

Wingnuts ALWAYS place party ahead of country, you see.

Still doesn't change the fact that the whole Iraq occupation has been a failure, the escalation failed to accomplish its primary objective, and the twoops failed the nation in general.

I'm surprised you can say this, being an avid reader of Moonbattery.com and all. Or does the MSM lack of Good News Iraq coverage drown out the facts with its silence?

Al Qaeda smashed in Iraq, complains about lack of support from populace.

Peace and normal life even in previously insurgency terror zones.

23,000 terrorists killed.

Anti-war snuff films like Redacted flopping from lack of public sympathy.

Which part exactly is the failure?

Here are items where the Iraqi government is making progress toward the earmarks too.

• In 2007, Iraq will spend more on its security forces than it will receive in security assistance from the United States.
Ambassador Crocker: “[W]e are seeing Iraqis come to terms with complex issues, not by first providing a national framework, but instead by tackling immediate problems.” (Amb. Ryan Crocker, Armed Services Committee And Committee On Foreign Affairs Hearing, U.S. House Of Representatives, 9/10/07)
• The central government has accepted more than 1,700 young men from the Abu Ghraib area west of Baghdad to be part of the Iraqi security forces, including former members of insurgent groups.
• The government of Iraq has contacted thousands of members of the former Iraqi army and offered them retirement, return to the military, or public sector employment.
Provinces have grown in their ability to design and execute budgets in coordination with the central government. (Amb. Ryan Crocker, Armed Services Committee And Committee On Foreign Affairs Hearing, U.S. House Of Representatives, 9/10/07)
• On September 5, Iraq's senior federal leadership traveled to Anbar and announced a 70% increase in the 2007 provincial capital budget, as well as $50 million to compensate losses incurred by Anbaris.
• The government of Iraq has placed some 21,000 Anbaris on police payrolls.
• The 2007 governmental budget allocated $10 billion, nearly one-third of Iraq's expected oil export revenue, to capital investment.
o National ministries and provincial councils have proceeded to commit these funds at more than twice the rate of last year.

We should do so well in creating budgets in this country. The Iraqi's have also adopted a flag that even the Kurds are flying now, plus they just the other day allocated retirement funds for thousands of Iraqi civilians that had been left out from the former regieme. That alone is doing much to help them work through the sectionalism.

HoosierArmyMom,

Here's a list of the the items the US Congress has progressed towards in the same period of time.

uhh... umm... nevermind. Maybe the American public should set them some benchmarks ?

Better get used to change, folks.

Posted by: hashfanatic at February 23, 2008 1:45 AM

hash "Just because I am dedicated to your total annihilation doesn't mean I hold any particular allegiance to any different, equally meaningless camp."

So you just want to annihilate anyone who does not share your views?

Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Kim II,long list..... would be so proud! They felt the same way.

Anarchism seems to be the only thing left for you.
Correction, Collectivist anarchist might be closer.

Anyway, we(conservatives or rethugs if you like) are still here and not changed one bit, annihilate us harder if you wish to have success.

Never happen, get over it.

Posted by: Hemlock at February 23, 2008 7:15 AM

"Better get used to change, folks."

Things will change over time, they always do, but change isn't an end in itself. The change being advocated has to be defined and beneficial.
The great change messiah wants to inflict change that would destroy America as a sovereign republic. This isn't surprising as his history and rhetoric show that he is a socialist.
Therein lies our oppostion to him. America has long been on a path to socialism and we don't need to accelerate this suicidal rush. We need to reverse it and change to a path to liberty, individual responsibility and adherence to the Constitution.

Due to confusion and misattribution between myself and Steve, I'm changing my screen name from steve to steven.

"Hashhole would NEVER dare spew his/her/it's psychotic anti-military hate in the presence of an active duty service person."

Yeah Refuter, but he doesn't hesitate to say all kinds of nasty crap to the mother of an active duty soldier on a forum. What a jackass and a coward he is.

"uhh... umm... nevermind. Maybe the American public should set them some benchmarks ?"

IOpian, If we did, the Dems would just Blame BUSH because they didn't hit them. They are pretty good at ignoring what the Public Peons want.

And about this blog post... How stupid does Obama think the American public is? Oh, I forgot, he is used to blind moonbats fainting over anything he says.

Straight from Cao's Blog on the subject:

"The very next day, Senator John Warner, Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee–sent a warning letter to Senator Obama…that might have a significant bearing on what happens with the Iraq Veterans Against the War’s planned Winter Soldier II Investigation (WSI) – Iraq and Afghanistan."

Gee, I wonder why he is being warned???? You can't even spell "owned" hashmark!!!!

Vets For Freedom Fires back on the allegations:

(Washington DC) Vets for Freedom questions the recent comments by Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill) in the Democratic debate last night, in which he stated that American troops were “capturing Taliban weapons because it was easier to get Taliban weapons than get equipped by our current Commander in Chief”.

“Yet again Senator Obama has demonstrated the loose grip he holds on the reality of these conflicts,” said Vets for Freedom State Captain, and Afghanistan Army veteran Daniel Bell. “Senator Obama’s comments are insulting not only to those who have served and are still serving in Afghanistan but to all who serve in the armed forces. I can attest from my first hand experience that these comments are incredulous and that we were supplied all the tools necessary to complete our missions.”

He continued “His statements last night assert that he lacks the necessary knowledge to make serious judgments on military matters, that he is prone to dangerous exaggeration, and that he is grossly unaware of the facts on the ground. I call on other veterans of Afghanistan to respond to these ridiculous allegations and to remind Senator Obama that it is the sacrifice of those serving in Iraq and Afghanistan that allows him to so freely speak in this manner.”

I think these Vets from the War know a little more about "where the weapons come from" than Obama!!!
hashmark, you are just too lazy to go to reliable sources for your info, in fact I'm not sure you read anything but liberal, factless pratter. So WHO is the LIAR here? It certainly isn't steven.

Blackfive presents the definitive takedown of B.O.'s B.S. "Barack Obama is complete idiot for opening up his pie-hole about something he obviously knows nothing about...".

(If he argued like a lefty, the above sentence would be the complete response, but Blackfive explains with facts, details, and logic exactly why B.O. should keep his pie-hole shut.)

I guess only when "Breastless" Ingraham is kvetching up a storm, or "Doctor" (HA!) Laura is defending her widdle boy douche.

Posted by: hashfanatic at February 25, 2008 11:19 AM

So hashmark, once again you are can't argue with a member of Congress and the Senate Armed Services Committee so you dig in your bag of tasteless and ignorant comments and spew em out. No, he's not dead yet and won't be, you low life piece of shit coward. I'd say I'd put more stock in Senator Warner than I would YouTube dipshit.
