Mississippi Restaurants Could Be Banned from Serving Fat People
Posted by Dave Blount at February 4, 2008 12:27 PM
The totalitarian impulses of nanny-state do-gooders are downright frightening:
Mississippi legislators this week introduced a bill that would make it illegal for state-licensed restaurants to serve obese patrons.
Mississippi's Department of Health would be called upon to establish weight criteria, after consultation with the Council on Obesity. Restaurants would be forbidden from serving anyone who violates these criteria.
If the law gets through, they'll have to extend it to grocery stores — otherwise folks with incorrect body mass indexes might continue to eat. Maybe they should be incarcerated in special camps, to make sure they don't find some other way to acquire food. Then bureauweenies could turn their attention to people who don't exercise sufficiently.
On a tip from El Presidente.
