Kids Suspended for Wearing Crucifixes
In Oregon, wearing a crucifix can now get you suspended from school:
Jaime Salazar, 14, his friend Marco Castro, 16, were suspended from South Albany High School recently after they refused to put away the crucifixes they were wearing around their necks.
The kids say the crucifixes were gifts from their mothers. Educrats say they are gang symbols.
Here's another extract, from a source conservative readers might recognize:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…
The Founding Fathers must have forgotten to add, "unless someone decides crucifixes are a gang symbol."
Maybe next combing your hair a certain way will be a gang symbol. Will the authorities shave everyone's heads?
The smart gangs will adopt the star and crescent as a symbol. No educrats could ban that without risking the wrath of the ACLU.

On tips from Wiggins, Cheetah and Oiao.

Christians are "gangs" now?
Whoa! Who knew?
In all honesty; I have seen some fairly "unsavory" looking youths sporting prominent crucifixes - it seems to be a fad. Whether it's an actual gang symbol or not I can't say, but I support their right to wear them. (I'm thinking it could actually wear off on them someday.)
Just like I support the resident troll's right to makes asses of themselves.
God will sort it all out soon enough. Too soon for some.

Not soon enough for others.

I actually agree with you guys on this one.

I've got no problem with people wearing whatever they want, for the most part.
If people want to hang an ancient device of torture around their neck, with a skinny, bloody dead guy hanging off of it, it's fine with me.
Sick, but fine with me.

Christians are "gangs" now?
No, not just now....since it's inception Christianity has operated like a gang.

This one isn't as moonbatty as it at first seems. I was reading just a couple of days ago how some gang members are wearing crucifixes in their gang colors, to get around the "no gang colors" rule. The one I read about in particular had a black upright with a yellow crossbar forming the cross.

Hmmm. I don't suppose this school district would ever ban headscarves for similar reasons, would they?

At least here where I live, gang members wear Rosary Beads (which have crucifixes on them for you non-Catholics!)In their gang colors...again, to get around the no gang colors rules. Rosaries are not intended to be worn round the neck. With this in mind, I'm thinking these moonbats may be actually banning a legit gang sign...co-opted by these idiots and worn in a non-faith approved fashion anyway...not banning the wearing of crucifixes. Now also, if they are wearing one of the now-popular gaudy 4 inch high "blin" crucifixes, this is also linked to some gangs down here in Louisiana....

Correction to above...that should have been "bling" Crucifix...sorry for the typo.

I guess the educracy is going to be totally flummoxed if gangs start dressing in navy blue pants, white collared shirts, and dark ties.

I always knew that being Catholic would make me a gang member someday. The Nuns would be so proud of me. I just can't believe some of these schools. They need to get a life & start teaching the three R's. If they run across a gang member that is being a jerk in school then toss him/she out for that---not wearing a cross with Christ on it... No wonder our kids aren't being taught anymore---the damned schools are worried about crosses...
