Greenpeace Kooks Make Mockery of Heathrow Security

This doesn't do much to reassure passengers regarding the state of security at British airports:

Four activists from environmental campaigners Greenpeace breached security at London Heathrow to stage a protest on top of a jet against the airport's planned expansion, the group said Monday.
The activists climbed on top of a British Airways Boeing 777 plane which had just landed from Manchester at around 0945 GMT and unfurled a huge banner across the tailfin reading: "Climate Emergency — No Third Runway".

Moonbats demand that humanity contract, not expand. The "Climate Emergency" refers of course to the farcical global warming hoax, which environmental militants will doggedly take seriously well into the next ice age.

It reportedly took 90 minutes for authorities to arrest the trespassing environazis. Let's hope al Qaeda isn't watching.

But we don't need to worry too much. After all, terrorism allegedly poses "far less risk than obesity, type two diabetes and smoking-related illnesses."

Less than seven years after 9/11, we've nodded off to sleep while fretting about obesity and harmless carbon emissions, as Islamists plan their next attack.

Went through security at Heathrow in Feb. 02 and it was a clusterschmuck then. They are too much into the religion of Political Correctness to exercise sound security practices. One would think "common sense and the desire to live" would kick in.

sounds more like "Heathrow Security makes a mockery of Heathrow Security".

Ironically, the kooks are turning out to protest against ManBearPig on the heels of one of the coldest winters since 1966.

But anyway, the greenbats accomplished their goal... drawing attention to themselves.

Dont these loons understand that having another runway will reduce the amount of time planes spend idling their engines on the runways waiting to take off or circling waiting for a slot to open up so they can land?

Whats next are they going to blow up planes to stop them from emitting CO2?

Posted by: Anonymous at February 26, 2008 7:40 AM

No anon, they will BURN the planes very, very slowly to stop them from emitting CO2 and then haul the heap to the local landfill and let the toxic chemicals seep into the ground water.

Man, Leftists are just useful idiots, right Hash? Please, demonstrate to us once again your spectacular level of stupidity.....

My guess is that they had someone on the inside, helping them out, Doogie...

Don't even TALK about airport security until you are willing to dedicate the funds necessary to bring in TRAINED SECURITY PROFESSIONALS, as opposed to the $8 /hour burger flippers we currently have, and are thoroughly prepared to take the entire business seriously.

That would mean inconvenience. That would mean (gasp!) challenging business interests and placing their expedience on the back burner, just as if they were the little people.

Is the radical right prepared to make those changes? Well, it's been seven years since the 9/11 occurrences, and you certainly haven't up till now...

If you're not willing to check CARGO, and you're down with turning our ports to foreigners, what would lead us to believe you care about the safety of PEOPLE?

No, let's hang a despot for the cameras, instead.

If a bunch of eco-nuts can track down evading whaling vessels, and breach Heathrow security at will, then I fear the day that al-Qaeda decides to get serious (again) and launch another attack on American soil.

Not to pick nits, but that's an Airbus A320. Check out the registration number.

Used to fly in and out of there in '03 - '04.

The first class ticket agent would check your passport and send you up a special little escalator for upper class passengers.

At the top a Bobbie would wave hello at you and nod you through - done, past security.

I about fell over the first time it happend thinking they had made a mistake. I almost went back to ask, but decided to go with it.

Then I had a sick feeling the 2nd, 3d and 4th time it happened in understanding that their layered physical security was a joke.

And no, I was not using an offical passport, just the normal tourist version.

I think in Heathrow, you'd stand a better chance of getting arrested if you smoked a cigar on the people conveyour on your way to your gate than if you carried a bomb in your carryon. That is sad, but I think true. I've never seen so few "security people" in an airport in my life. At Schiphol Airport(Netherlands) it wasn't any better though. People smoking pot in the smoking lounges made it interesting, but I didn't even get my carryon searched coming into the Airport after they stamped my passport!
