Gold Star Letter to Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates

Now a word from Gold Star Mother Debbie Lee, an anti-Sheehan, to Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates, who recently sided with Code Pink in an attempt to drive out the US Marines:

I was appalled at the decisions that your City Council made at your last meeting, telling the Marines they were not welcome in your city and then granting Code Pink a parking place in front of the Recruiting office free for six months along with a free noise permit. I called and left a message last week for you to call me, a Gold Star Mother whose son gave the ultimate sacrifice. It doesn't surprise me that you didn't return that phone call. Trust me I won't just go away!
My son Marc Alan Lee laid down his life 8-2-06 for Americans to have all of the freedoms that we enjoy. He voluntarily went to his recruiter to find out what opportunities would be provided to him and what would be required for him to be a Navy SEAL. He was treated professionally and never once regretted his decision to become a Navy SEAL. He was honored to serve his country. He was stationed in California along with half of the SEAL community. I'm sure you've heard of the elite of the elite, as President Bush calls them. My oldest son Kristofer went to a Marine recruiters office in July 2000 and signed to be one of "The few, the Proud, The Marines." He also never regretted his choice and was also treated professionally and was proud to serve his country for 5 years. My son-in-law Christopher also visited an Army recruiter and proudly served his country for 3 years. I wish that you served as a Mayor with the same pride and love for this country and those men and women who would defend you unconditionally! Our military defends your freedoms and has written a blank check to you and your city and every American and they have told you to fill in the cost of that freedom up to and including the cost of their lives and you are telling these people they are not welcome in your city? How dare you!
I'm sure you continue to enjoy those freedoms that every man or woman who has served in our military has fought for you. Who do you think would defend you if the terrorists attacked your city? Who do you think would come if an earthquake devastated your city? Who do you think would come if their were riots in your city? How dare you try to legislate and change the laws of the land. I am demanding that you publicly apologize to the Marines and to our troops, and to their families and that you resend the legislation that you passed last week giving special rights to Code Pink.
Demanding Respect for our Troops,
Debbie Lee
Proud Mother of Marc Alan Lee
First Navy SEAL killed in Iraq 8-2-06

Debbie emailed her letter to mayor@ci.berkeley.ca.us. You might like to write one too, or sign the petition at Move America Forward.

I emailed the following message to the Mayor.

So, I'm guessing that in event of a major crisis, you'll be calling the the Code Pink Ladies for assistance?

So when the Hayward fault (or several others) finally snaps and really messes up Berkley, it will be fun to see the CA National Guard drive on by to other communities to feed them, provide water, medical assistance and restore order.

A six ton truck (add 3 more tons of cargo) can really squash a pink protester with a carboard sign on a stick when martial law is introduced.

No need to waste the price of a .556 in that case.

Yeah, I know, I mixed up the units of measurement in the last post.

Ya got the point anyway.

Bates is kind of like the ultra liberal version of Bull Connor for turning loose the savage code pink attack dogs on these 'outside agitators'.

This whole circus exposes the fallacy of liberal-think. If this was an abortion clinic then its defenders would recite bumper-sticker slogans in defense of a teenage girl's right to kill a baby like 'Its her body and she is free to make the choice'. They may even call anti-abortionists that block the entrances to the clinic terrorists or maybe even nazis.

However, if some young person wants to make the choice to enlist in a force that defends the innocent, possibly at the cost of life or limb, then these half-wit liberals find themselves in the postion of denying to others the freedom of choice they demand for themselves because they don't agree with this particular choice. Ironically they tend to show their disdain for the military by calling them baby-killers.

Trouble is they are too clueless ( of course in their minds they are far more enlighted than we mere rubes ) to even think about it.

This man is a classic textbook example of why Islamonazis invariably root publicly for "Liberals" during election seasons. Like the poster above said, they are just too foolish to even think it through and ask themselves why that is.

Apparently several of the council members are Veterans, of both the United States Army and the United States Marines.

ergo, traitors ... ?

Anyhow, WHO SUPPORTED TERRORISM? WHO gave Al-Qaeda billions? WHO declared March 21, 1983 a national holiday for Al-Qaeda? WHO wanted a "major catastrophic attack" on American soil?

"So when the Hayward fault (or several others) finally snaps and really messes up Berkley, it will be fun to see the CA National Guard drive on by to other communities to feed them, provide water, medical assistance and restore order."

Agreed, Oiao. The City of Berkeley and all of its inhabitants who supported this despicable assault deserve nothing more than the contempt of our soldiers. However, I know you will agree with me that it is the underlying reality of what actually would occur if Berkeley was imperiled that makes the City's actions all the more disgusting:

If tomorrow morning, every scumbag in Berkeley awoke to find their city under attack by Muslim terrorists, their homes tumbling into a bottomless crater caused by the Hayward Fault, and their loved ones drowning in the aftermath of a freak tsunami, the men and women of our armed forces would not hesitate to parachute headfirst into that hell and bravely give their lives delivering Tom Bates, Medea Benjamin and all the rest of those useless Moonbats to safety. THAT is what makes the City and Code Pink's actions not just inexcusable, but unbearable.

It is the bravery of Marines that makes the cowardice of liberals possible.

The following is a letter that I have sent to the Mayor:

Dear Sir:

After reading the article regarding your city and its recent addition of a recruiting station, I became irate. I am an active duty Marine stationed in Parris Island, SC, and will soon be moving to Oceanside, CA. I find it to be absolutely disgusting that a city would slap service members in the face the way that your city has. Regardless of your stance that this is not against the members of the military, I find it to be utterly offensive that a government would attempt to oust their country’s military from their town.
Recruiting stations are positioned based on population and demographics of the area. These stations are the first step to a civilian defending the United States of America against all threats, foreign and domestic. I am sure that in late September, 2001, you were crying for blood, itching for the same revenge that millions of Americans were looking for. Now, however, you attempt to subvert the very people that protect your rights, your constitution, your city, and finally, your country. I, as well as many other Americans and service members, am ashamed to acknowledge the existence of your town within the United States. Perhaps next time you have a gripe against the USA, you should seek citizenship elsewhere. I nearly guarantee you will have a fresh outlook within 6 months.
Maybe you haven’t seen the gratitude shown by the Iraqis when we freed them from tyranny. When the Baath party had been running a city, and every single citizen was celebrating in the streets upon their removal, thanking the United States Marines that had been a part of it, what were you protesting? When women and children were given rights that were never available for generations, what picket sign did you hold? The overall idea of the war may be what you are focused on, but perhaps you need to look closer at what your men and women in uniform are doing for the human rights of other people. Perhaps we need to remove your rights to speech, voting, bearing arms, and keep it this way for the next two generations. Maybe then you might understand.
In regards to your service, I severely doubt your retirement from the military. First, you were a reservist that served as a Captain in Germany. If you had retired from service, you would have attained a much higher rank than that of Captain. Either that, or your service was worth little to nothing. After 20 years in any service, it is difficult not to be above the rank of Captain. From the biography on your own website, you have served no time in war. You have served no time in conflict. You, therefore, have little to no right to pose these types of decisions regarding your “peace-loving” community’s wishes based on “experience”.
I hope that this letter shakes the very core of your ideology. Perhaps you may take the time to rethink your “strong stance” on this matter. I am, again, appalled at the motions of your city. I have fought for your freedoms twice, and will do it again. However, perhaps it’s time that you use your freedoms for a proper cause.

sent to the Mayor on 2-12-08.

I have to tell you that as an American and as a retired soldier and officer, I found your comments regarding the Marine Corps (I, like you, am an Army veteran) were both pathetic and dishonorable. Regardless of your personal feelings about the Iraq war, to make the disgusting comments you made was so far outside the realm of tasteful that you simply reinforced the reputation Berkley has as a “fringe” community of ungrateful nut-jobs.

I consider myself well educated with 2 masters degress and an undergraduate degree, and I am well traveled, with extended trips to over 26 countries world wide, including three combat zones. I have a solid sense of world opinion as well as the reasons behind those opinions. I tell you this so you understand that I am not some uneducated blowhard that derives his knowledge from the media. I apply these attributes to the manner in which I form my opinions. To hear such disparaging comments about an organization that is employed as an extension of U.S. policy, and that conducts itself, by and large, with the highest standards of behavior (much like the other services), is nauseating. I would put the behavior and conduct of any service member against a politician like you any day.

I do not believe for a second that your comments were taken out of context, misquoted or misrepresented and while I will forever defend your right to express your opinion, when it is untempered, motivated by political expediency and so completely irresponsible, I am compelled to tell you that you make me sick. Feel free to find another country. Don’t try to tell me that simply because your views differ from mine that you are no less American or patriotic. Your comments are completely un-American and counter to what made this the greatest, most generous country in the world. We are not perfect as a country but the alternatives based on the countries I have operated in, are not worth considering.

I pray to God that you are the exception and not the rule in your community.

Thank you Debbie Lee for making us aware of Bates position toward our troops. We know were he is going when he dies.
