Even Roseanne Barr Can See through Obamamania

Roseanne Barr is not exactly known for her conservative views or mature sophistication. Yet even she can see through the absurd hype the media has generated on behalf of Barack Hussein Obama:

When I fly in an airplane I want the pilot with the most experience, not the one who can inspire hope in me that I get to where I am going. When I pay my taxes, I want the person filing them to be experienced, not the new person who inspires hope in me that he can do the job. When I hire someone to fix my washing machine, I want the tried and true experienced person, not the one who inspires me to hope that he can fix it. When I go to the doctor I do not want to get the one who inspires hope in me that s/he can cure what's wrong, but the one who knows what the hell to do the minute I call. It's not really the job of a public servant to inspire, but to get the job that the people demand done. The democrats think that if they have hope and are inspired things will get better, but they actually won't. When Oprah makes her employees sign her fifty page non-disclosure statement, she doesn't "hope" they can't break it, she pays teams of experienced lawyers to MAKE SURE they can't break it, or be sued in an experienced court by an experienced judge.

Strangely, boorish Roseanne appears to be more sophisticated than the latte liberals of Obama Nation.

Comments

One would like to believe that a moment of thoughtful clarity, even in a nutty liberal like Roseanne, might lead to some actual rational, logical thinking about candidate choice and issues, but then one would also like to believe that my expanding waistline might lead to reduced beer consumption.....one would be wrong.

Van, did you see this from Best of the Web?

Absurd abuse of tax needs transfer -- out :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Commentary

Basically, the gun-grabbing city of Chicago wants you to pay their obscene property transfer tax even when property is not transferred. They even tax divorced couples so that whoever gets the house has to pay the tax, even though no transfer took place.

Ed,

Reading through the comments to her post I get the feeling too that rational and logical thinking is as alien to them as is personal responsibility. However I must admit Obama does inspire hope in me... I hope he doesn't get elected.

And on the subject of Obama.

The Revolution Weblog: Why Barack, you ask?

I think Obama might just be the right person at the right time. If this were 2000, or even 2004, I don't think he has a chance. In 2012, he probably wouldn't have a chance.....but in 2008, I think a weary public just wants....just wants to BELIEVE in America again.

He's got the right message and the right delivery at the right time. I mean, everytime I hear him speak, i have this guilty suspicion that i'm getting suckered...but I just don't care.

Straight from the lips of an Obama supporter.

IOpian has just created the latest and best ObamaNation bumper sticker!

Obama inspires hope in me...
I hope he doesn't get elected.

OT: Evergeen Anarchists Going Down?. Too much to hope probably.

Responding to Steve Re: Chicago Tax Grab... that's the way Democrats see it. Nothing belongs to you, the citizen, it all belongs to them. And if you manage to keep any little bit for yourself, you're stealing from them.

Somebody WAKE THESE PEOPLE UP!!! Government screws everything they touch up! We don't need more government or Michelle Obama making US DO STUFF!!
Oh how I long for FREEDOM!!!!

As for the bumper sticker:

"Obama inspires hope in me...

I'll take two please! :-)

Meaning that hashfamily agrees with our views about Obama. A Hillary supporter then?

Remember, in libspeak, evil/idiotic/wrong = whatever I do not support

"Meaning that hashfamily agrees with our views about Obama. A Hillary supporter then?"

No.

Meaning that many valid points have been brought up.

I believe that, during last night's debate, Hillary won on style and Obama won on substance.

That doesn't change the fact that it was the first time during the campaign that Obama clearly articulated his positions, and that a lot of the "Hope-notized" had little understanding of what they were actually supporting.

Posted by: hashfanatic at February 22, 2008 8:35 PM

I think that Democrats are going to choose the Democrat that is most electable. Obama is leading McCain in the polls by +7%

Posted by: john Ryan at February 22, 2008 9:25 PM

Amazing post, hash, since Obama is all style and zero substance (never had any; never will), and Hills is merely the one who's "owed" the presidency, cannot speak well (tends to shriek when she gets faux-emotional about something), and has exactly the same experience governing anything as Obama (that is, zero, despite her alleged "co-presidency" with Bill).

Articulate for me, if you will, each of the positions which Obama has now "clearly articulated," other than the relatively new Dhimmicrat screed that "America = Failure" (Senator Obama would do well to have his wife keep her trap shut; she's tarnishing some of his messianic "lustre," if you will, each and every time she bloviates about what a "rotten" country this is).

You are, however, absolutely right that some (perhaps many) of his "followers" (and man, is that the correct word for these sheep!) are now having second thoughts -- keep an eye out, cause that will only increase as the national campaign between McCain and Obama (as now appears to be the case) gets going for real.

I understand that Democrats are sick and tired of the Clintons (hell, so am I!), but the powers-that-be are taking a HUGE chance throwing her, a known, albeit imperfect, quantity overboard for the utterly unknown Obama. At any rate, it should be a most interesting Democrat National Convention this summer!

I haven't got a problem with Barr. She's hillarious when teamed up with Goodman. (What was the name of that TV show???) I also believe the infamous National Anthem thing was blown way out of proportion - she grabbed her crotch and spit (just like a baseball player adjusting his cup and spitting - that's what baseball players do - adjust their cups and spit) - problem was it was directly after she butchered the National Anthem, so folks related the two events.

Roseanne is a classic example of someone growing up in such a dysfunctional environment, they are clueless about how to get along in society. It doesn't mean she's stupid, just not exactly PC. Life for some people is kind of like embarking on a long, long trip without a map or compass. They spend most of their time lost and confused. It seems to me in her statements on this issue, she demonstrates some logic and reason and maybe even hard earned common sense. I salute her on that.
The National Anthem thing was a bad mistake, but what were they thinking asking a somewhat crude comedian to do it in the first place??? Who was responsible for the set up anyway?

"...since Obama is all style and zero substance (never had any; never will)..."

You think, jc14?

After his performance last night?

Were you able to actually suffer through the debate, lol?

"...Hills is merely the one who's "owed" the presidency..."

Oh, I absolutely agree with you there. The whole Clinton camp went into this with a strong sense of entitlement, IMHO....but I would argue that Bush did as well, after his father (and Jeb will soon be caught up under similar delusions).

"...cannot speak well (tends to shriek when she gets faux-emotional about something)..."

Well, she ENUNCIATES well (important, with today's sound systems and poorly-designed auditoriums) but, Lord, isn't her screeching awful?

Like the stomach pumping of a suicide attempt.

"...has exactly the same experience governing anything as Obama (that is, zero, despite her alleged "co-presidency" with Bill)..."

IMHO, Bill was the best Republican president we ever had, and she was absolutely correct when she spoke of a vast right-wing conspiracy...she just forgot to tell us that she and Bill were a part of it.

So, that's not going to fly well with us on the left anyway (and, as you can see, it hasn't).

"Articulate for me, if you will, each of the positions which Obama has now "clearly articulated," other than the relatively new Dhimmicrat screed that "America = Failure"...

First off, I'm not discussing EACH position with you because a) I was repeatedly interrupted while watching it and b) because you know full well transcripts are readily available for your perusal, to rip apart (as you should).

I was pleasantly surprised that he was delineating positions at all! I'll mention the impressions I got from what I saw, and who I thought won...

Negotiation-Obama
Here, he set himself apart from Hillary when talking about his approach to dealing with people like Raul, Hugo, Ahmedinijad, etc. Hillary was clear about adhering to the old American line of insisting about sixteen thousand preconditions and using the negotiations themselves as leverage, which is the same old arrogance. Obama made it clear that, even though obvious preconditions would have to be met, sitting down with foreign leaders is just sitting down with foreign leaders and a necessary first step toward restoring something we haven't had in years, coherent foreign policy.

Immigration-Obama
A slightly different form of claptrap about pathways to citizenship, but it was new to hear him acknowledge clearly the divisions that have set us CITIZENS against one another, and how it is being used as political fodder to distort.

Hillary seems to thrive on such divisions and distortions, without offering anything better than McCain's suicidal plans to the table.

He also pointed out that technology and guards could be used more effectively than a wall in certain border areas. I'm not sure I'm convinced but, since nobody is doing anything worthwhile to secure the borders anyway, it can't hurt to at least investigate it, even if it's an interim measure.

Language-Draw
Hillary (sadly) reiterated her opposition to designating English as our official language but then pulled it out of a hat by stressing our need for English to be everyone's common, unifying language. Obama followed up with more of the same but stressed educational aspects more, which I'm not sure I agreed with, but he did approach the subject less emotionally than Hillary did.

Speeches-Obama
This, he knocked Hillary on her ass, because she got in a cheap shot about him using Deval Patrick's rhetoric, until he pointed out that nothing should seem out of the ordinary, since Patrick was an adviser and consult to his campaign! This was shrewd, because everyone understands the Clinton machine...

Substance-Clinton
Here, she won hands down, because she demonstrated that Obama has been all emotion until now, by pointing out that a silly media fool was able to easily embarrass a respected Texas pol and Obama surrogate by challenging him to name ONE clear Obama position! (Which he couldn't.)

Healthcare-Obama
First off, I believe ALL of these plans suck (single payer is the only way to go).

But the main difference between their plans is that Clinton's mandates coverage, and his does not. She correctly pointed out the immorality of picking and choosing who should get coverage but he countered that was all fine and egalitarian but a large number of citizens cannot AFFORD it. He followed up by saying that a mandate would require an enforcement mechanism, which she has said might include garnishment of wages, and he mentioned that might not be a particularly effective way to help needy people. That was a different angle I had never considered (and one I'd never heard from him before).

They debated ready judgement, competency to serve as commander in chief, dealing with crisis, our superdelegate dilemma, lobbyists, influence, and payoffs, transparency, etc.

jc14, that IS substance. I originally thought she would mop up the floor with him, but he held his own. I don't usually agree with these candidates, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover I was in essential agreement more often than I ever would have thought, and I'm at least somewhat relieved to understand that either of them would be far more intelligent and competent to serve as president as any Republican candidate, although, between the two, I'd rather have Hillary.

"At any rate, it should be a most interesting Democrat National Convention this summer!"

Yep.

Can I have your assurance that you will vote for Obama? 2009 to 2017 is a good stretch of time for us Dems to change the Court and move forward on many issues of progress versus regress [the GOP specialty].
