What Won't New Yorkers Do for Free Money?

Socialism has taken such deep root in New York, it seems the locals will go to any length to help themselves to other people's money. When aging junkies David Dalaia and James O'Hare were unable to cash their friend Virgilio Cintron's Social Security check in his absence, they went home and got him — even though he was dead:

The trouble began Tuesday when Dalaia and O'Hare tried to cash Virgilio Cintron's check at a store in Hell's Kitchen on their own, police said. The man at the counter told them that Cintron had to be present to cash the check, so they went back to his apartment, which one of the suspects shared with the dead man.
Cintron was apparently undressed when he died, sometime within the previous 24 hours. Police said Dalaia and O'Hare proceeded to dress him in a faded T-shirt, pants they could only get up part way, and a pair of Velcro sneakers. They threw a coat over his waist to conceal what the pants couldn't cover, police said.
They then put him on the office chair and wheeled the corpse over to the check-cashing store.

Cintron, a 66-year-old loser with a criminal record, had apparently died of natural causes.

Wouldn't it be easier just to get jobs?

wow, i am reading this blog and it is just crazy. whoever operates this thing is really nuts. its crazy right wing conspiracy theory. the right wing's answer to nutty 9/11 truthers on the left. you seriously have some issues a psychologist could help you work through. the haltered you have for 50% of America is only slightly to the left of the crazy neo-nazi propaganda on stomfront.org.

calling obama, "osama" is really childish and sad. oh and lastly, since i lean slightly to the left i will tell you, we dont side with islam. the islamic world is proof how scary religious conservatives can become if they are in charge. i would do anything to prevent religious conservatives from meddling in my life or killing my countrymen. I take a strong stance against the insanity that is religious conservatism. I don't discriminate based on religion either. Christianity, Islam and Judaism all have their crazies who deny science, are anti-intellectual and want to push humanity back into the dark ages. Thankfully throughout history, progressive thought has always eventually triumphed over dogmatic religious tyranny.

Hey Brian,

I've been reading this blog for awhile for it's raw entertainment value. You hit the nail on the head when characterizing the blogger and the dozen or so regular posters here. Anti-intellectual, religious "conservatives" who have simply no respect for the majority of Americans views. It's hilarious that they claim the left, or anyone who disagrees with them, for that matter, is Anti-American, when they regularly express disdain for more Americans than anyone else. They don't realize at all, that they are the other side of the Islamic fundamentalist coin. It's friggin hilarious! Reading them contradict themselves everyday is a lot of fun. Watch them pick ANY story from the news, without actually even reading it, and turn it into proof that "commies" are taking over America.

What I like about it is that you can really see the twisted lack of logic and religious dogma that provides the foundation of the right wing thought process. These are the people the Republicans pander to.

The posters here don't even bother to attempt to substantiate anything they say with anything remotely resembling facts or rationality like most other right wing blogs. A lot of them are clearly only semi-literate. People here just spew emotional vomit.

what won't our government do for free money?

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/227/story/20983.html

Only problem is, it's not really free.

Posted by: Anonymous at January 10, 2008 1:55 AM

Anti-intellectual, religious "conservatives" who have simply no respect for the majority of Americans views.

Well, I'm a regular poster here and I'm a British atheist, so there goes your theory, Mr. Anonymous. I think if you bothered to try to understand what the blog's about, it's about freedom for individuals and resisting the imposition of a miserable totalitarianism. It's about whether people should live in a world with reasonable freedoms and corresponding self-responsibility, or a world run beyond democratic institutions and public scrutiny by self-appointed elites subsisting on patronage and other peoples' money. It's about whether people should make rational judgements, or be carried along in a maelstrom of deliberately organised moral panics. It's about whether human beings are individuals, or just insignificant constituents of a societal ooze. It's about whether we'll continue deep into the irrationalities of the progressive age, with science decided on the basis of political belief and economies run by people entirely ignorant of economics, or whether we return to enlightenment values of rationality, free enquiry and political openness.

Or maybe what I just wrote is "emotional vomit" and I should join in worshipping Gaia and hating modernity and freedom and raving wildly about SUVs and Zionazis. I dunno. Whaddaya think, "Anonymous"?

Posted by: Ian from the EUSSR at January 10, 2008 3:24 AM

I think you give this blog WAY to much credit. If you really see any of that in this blog, well, than your standards aren't very high.

This blog is about as "enlightened" as a caveman.

and yeah, I think most of what you wrote there is a emotional vomit.

Posted by: Anonymous at January 10, 2008 4:00 AM

Well, Anonymous, I'm sorry you think that. I'd suggest you start with some beginner's reading on economics and the scientific method, to get a grounding in the basics, y'know. After that, I'd recommend something like Hayek's "The Road To Serfdom" so's you can get a grasp on how demagogues recruit crowds of idiots to follow them into the abyss, dragging their societies down with them. It seems pretty clear you don't have much in the way of a general education.

Hope this helps.

Posted by: Ian from the EUSSR at January 10, 2008 4:07 AM

hey Ian, how has anything I've written here contradicted scientific method? I'd be curious for you to actually quote something I've written on this post that clashes with economic or scientific method. Show me, oh enlightened one, how my views, none of which I have actully expressed in any detail here, go against any economic or scientific principle.

You call yourself an atheist, yet align yourself with relgious right wing fundamentlaists? I'd say that you are the one who possesses the inherent contradictions.

a book on basic logic and rational thinking might suit you, chap.

As a person who grew up in America and lived through many many American elections I am quite familiar with demogogary, thank you.

The great H.L Mencken defined a demagogue as "one who will preach doctrines he knows to be untrue to men he knows to be idiots."

Sounds precisely like the current American admin.

I love this blog Anonymous, it's very upfront and honest. Have a nice day commie.

Posted by: Donald at January 10, 2008 4:54 AM

So on this front page of this blog we have one poster longing to "piss on a corpse" ,the moderator pining for the stoning death of a TV personality, a number of posters who liken Barack Obama to Osama bin Laden, who by the way, no one seems eager to actually catch, and another guy threatening to shoot another poster for disagreeing with him.

This is enlightenment, by your definition, Ian? You see, if you could read, what this blog is really about is ignorance and hatred. It's actually celebrated here.

Ian, you seem like a somewhat intelligent guy, can't you find a right wing blog where people actually try to express views in a somewhat coherent and respectable way? You'd still be wrong, but you could at least pretend to hold a civilized dialogue.

Posted by: Anonymous at January 10, 2008 5:00 AM

Pissing on the corpse of a traitor who sold out 4,000 of his fellow CIA agents is a normal reaction. Ivory tower liberals who think America should be cradle to grave socialism are on the road to communism. Socialism is just Communism without a gun pointed at your head; but instead hands all over your wallet. Comparing Obama to Osama is done in fun for the most part - Obama is no Osama Bin Laden but hes also an empty suit into which people pour their hopes and dreams - leftists for the most part. Liberals talk about "enlightenment" all day long but are some of the most narrow minded people Ive ever met. THEY have all the answers, THEY think politicians who think like they do whould have 100% control over the lives the people because people are too stupid to know whats good for them. Granted their are some hard core conservatives who are the other side of the coin, but for the most part its liberals who think aetheistic communism should be the ultimate goal. Though they never use the world communism itself because they know it has a bad reputation. Liberals scream about how Bush it Hitler and how he has taken away their rights via the Patriot Act - yet continue to spew vile comments at will and dont end up in prison as liberal heros like Hugo Chavez (Joe Kennedy hawks heating oil for his best buddy Hugo), Kim Jong Il, President of Iran and anyone else who attacks America.

Yes this site is fun and is entertaining but its also loaded with facts - of course any fact a liberal disagrees with isnt a fact by their definition.

Posted by: Anonymous at January 10, 2008 5:39 AM

Anon,

They're frickig big lie commies I tell ya.

Posted by: Donald at January 10, 2008 5:44 AM

Show me ONE fact

Posted by: Anonymous at January 10, 2008 5:46 AM

(Hoping this isn't the fourth time I've posted this since Moonbattery's comment function is acting up again.)

What communists won't do for free money. Corrupt UN Bureaucrat Arranges $300,000 part-time job for his Dutch Communist girlfriend.

As for anonymous, if he objects to VH's content, fine, let him start up his own blog. But that's not the way leftists work, is it. They let other people do the hard work, then they demand that other people let them take over. Like with the Boy Scouts. Instead of setting up their own organization that allows gay atheists to take young boys on unsupervised camp-outs in the deep dark woods, they demand that an existing organization bow to their demands.

I don't agree that everything VH posts constitutes moonbattery, and he probably doesn't think everything I post on my blog is funny. But we respect each other, and don't deny the other's right to post what he pleases.

Plus which, if Anonymous put up his own blog, he might have to put his name on it, which he doesn't have the balls to do even on his own comments.

Posted by: V the K at January 10, 2008 6:36 AM

One FACT? 2 guys tried to cash a dead mans social security check. Thats 1 fact.

Posted by: Anonymous at January 10, 2008 6:37 AM

Another Fact: 1,000 years ago it was so warm in Greenland the Viking colonists were farming Greenland and enjoying an ice free North Atlantic enabling them to explor North America. And there were no SUV's, coal power plants or blowhards like Al Gore around to make it that warm by selling us worthless carbon credits sold by the company he invested in. Of course Liberals insist we all on the verge of bursting into flames.

Posted by: Anonymous at January 10, 2008 6:42 AM

By the way, anonymous, quoting a dead white guy only proves you can quote a dead white guy. It doesn't demonstrate any "proof" of your argument that Bush is a demagogue.

i really need to turn my scratch and sniff monitor off! the smell of moonbats here is stifling - as usual, they come in anonomously and leave their guano droppings where they may. when they have no input to offer, they play the "i know you are, but what am i" game or any host of others.

they really know how to ruin a funny story. this story is HIGHLARIOUS!

Nanc, reports indicate this guy died of Alzheimer's.

Considering the rabid wingnut hysteria over the death of Terri Schiavo, I'm not sure what you find so funny about this story. At all.

For shame.

Leftard alert! The irony of a traitorous liberal assclown accusing conservatives of being "anti-intellectual" is rich. The "progressive" commies are nothing but poseurs and crybaby whiners. You anti-Americans can kiss my jingoistic, agnostic, redneck ass.

Posted by: skh.pcola at January 10, 2008 10:10 AM

What I find HI-larious is how he indirectly claims that leftist sites are bastions of gentle and courteous intellectual dialogue. I have been there, and "Yeah, right."
Also, I never really felt this was a religious site; Van Helsing just points out the double standards of the media and our laws. Like the recent post about that woman from The View saying something to the effect of the saints being crazy. I bet that pissed a lot of people off, but she will NEVER say Muhammad was crazy. None of them will.

Posted by: Harris at January 10, 2008 10:35 AM

Anonymous, you vegetable, start your own blog, or rather, go back to your high priestess, Celery Clinton. And tell her to put on a red burkha.

Posted by: Mockin'bird at January 10, 2008 11:01 AM

Ah, yes. The trolls show up. Brian and Anonymous: you crave the attention you never got as a child and still lack as an adult. You are either too dumb or too lazy (or both) to start a blog of your own so you flit around the net like stray dogs hoping someone will pay attention. Here's an idea. Start your own blog. Work hard at your writing and reasoning skills. Attract a group of loyal readers. Win your battles in the arena of ideas. Right now you are just a pathetic trolls with nothing important to say.

Posted by: Van Helsing at January 11, 2008 6:37 AM

"Nanc, reports indicate this guy died of Alzheimer's."

Translated from "Hash-speak", that means "so it was all right for them to try to cash a dead man's check". However, if that ISN'T what Hash ment, I would like to know what the heck his statement has to do with the SUBJECT.
Oh wait, I forgot that Liberals prefer to make unrelated statements to confuse the issue and drag the debate off on some wierd tangent, because sticking to facts would involve useing wits and intelligence.

Posted by: KHarn at January 11, 2008 1:31 PM

Simple, kham.

The author denounces the guy as a "loser" because he has a criminal record.

Ollie North has a criminal record. Jack Abramoff has a criminal record.

Would you fall over yourselves mocking and laughing their deaths if they died alone in some single-room occupancy hotel of early-onset Alzheimers', and they were identity-frauded before their bodies became warm?

To you, he's just another dead spic from New York, and therefore, not worthy of basic decency and human dignity.

Posted by: hashfanatic at January 11, 2008 6:34 PM

HASH
You still hven't condemned the crooks, so we must assume that you SEE NOTHING WRONG WITH THEIR ACTIONS.

Posted by: KHarn at January 12, 2008 8:37 AM

Of course they were marginals. They were drug users and stereotypical Hell's Kitchen small-time criminals, and, if I'm not mistaken, they lived in supported housing that we most likely subsidized.

For all we know, his charming roomies may well have treasured their junko partner so much, they ignored his worsening illness and did everything they could to hasten his decline.

That's STILL no reason to cackle over someone's death, and make needless "culture war" sport over what must be a tragic, heartbreaking situation for the decedent's family, who I'm sure have suffered over the years.

It's common and disrespectful, and I'm just not sure what purpose is served by it.
