PETA's 2006 Kill Rate: 97%

Although the idea of a cannibal being allowed to eat a hamburger stirs its righteous wrath, the sanctimonious fanatics at PETA are hardly friends of the animals. In 2006, PETA killed 97% of the "companion animals" that fell into its clutches.

A report that PETA finally coughed up nine months after it was due admits that dogs and cats have a 3% chance of surviving its care. But PETA did manage to find homes for 12 animals, in addition to continuing its strident campaign against meat, milk, fishing, leather, scientific research, capitalism, etc.

PETA fiends have been convicted of illegally chucking their victims into a North Carolina dumpster. Their colleague Andrea Florence Benoit Harris faces felony charges for stealing a hunting dog, which she evidently planned to "euthanize."

As David Martosko of the Center for Consumer Freedom observes:

The scale of PETA's hypocrisy is simply staggering.

PETA Kills Animals offers some chilling stats. From the second half of 1998 through 2006, PETA has exterminated 14,419 animals out of 17,806 received, for a kill rate of 80.1%. Heinrich Himmler would be proud. But I'm forgetting: we're the Nazis, for eating chicken.

Why does PETA kill the animals instead of sheltering them humanely? Because killing them is cheaper. PETA brings in $30 million a year from dupes who think they're helping animals. They don't want to waste a penny of it on dogs and cats when their actual mission is the dissemination of moonbattery.

The $30 million goes to financing activities like this.

And that $30 million pays for some damned good lawyers. For those who don't remember how the N.C. case ended, I'll clue you in. The two PETA members involved in the "kill-and-dump" operation got indicted originally 31 counts of animal cruelty and eight counts of illegal disposal of euthanized animals. Those got dropped and replaced with 42 counts of animal cruelty and 3 counts of "obtaining property under false pretense" (namely lying to the animal shelters that they'd make an effort to find homes for the animals given to them).

When the whole deal finally went to trial, every one of the charges got dropped except a misdemeanor "improper disposal" charge, for which the two involved were fined (no doubt paid out of PETA's pocket) and sentenced to community service. One of the two was suspended for 90 from his job, but neither lost their jobs and are still working for PETA.

Moral of the story: It helps to be best friends with the head of a non-profit organization, especially if that organization thinks the law doesn't apply to them.

"PETA brings in $30 million a year from moonbat dupes who think they're helping animals. They don't want to waste a penny of it on dogs and cats when their actual mission is the dissemination of moonbattery."

And the payment of high-priced lawyers, as Targetpractice points out, along with lining the pockets of the alleged anti-capitalists in charge of this bunch of hypocrites, who seem to love lucre, even as they protest anyone else making a living if animals or animal products are involved.

Great job taking care (or should I say "taking care"!) of all those homeless animals, there, Putah (as Debbie Schlussel calls you pathetic wimps: People for the unethical treatment of animals and humans). Your abject failure to put your money where your mouth is only substantiates your utter uselessness -- close down and send all your little wimpos back to Moonbat Central for re-assignment (plenty of other disgusting Moonbat causes out there, guys, like, say, the John Edwards campaign).

Speaking of high-priced lawyers, you may want to research the front group that put out this press release:

http://sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Center_for_Consumer_Freedom

Guest Choice Network, the predecessor organization to CCF, was formed in such a way so as not to appear "owned" by Philip Morris, to address the lack of interest restaurant owners had in Philip Morris's "Accommodation Program," and to have a broader appeal to industry than just tobacco. GCN was designed to "create an aggressive mentality by [restaurant] operators [to oppose} government smoking bans," according to a letter by Rick Berman to Philip Morris [2073148834]

In a 1995 letter to Philip Morris (PM), Rick Berman (of the public affairs company Berman & Company) proposed that PM form an aggressive front group called the "Guest Choice" network to motivate restaurant owners to aggressively fight smoking restrictions while appearing to be acting on their own. Berman said to PM, "...if you want to gain more ground quickly for the smokers' rights issue, the [Guest Choice] program must create a proactive, aggressive mentality by [restaurant] operators regarding government smoking bans..." Berman described how hiding Philip Morris' involvement would allow the group take more aggressive action:

"Additional benefit -- if externally perceived as driven by restaurant interests, there will be more flexibility and creativity allowed than if it is 'owned' by Philip Morris. The American Beverage Institute, which opposes overly aggressive DWI laws, enjoys this profile."[1]

PM took Mr. Berman's suggestion and formed the "Guest Choice Network," changing its name in recent years to the "Center for Consumer Freedom," which in addition to fighting smoking bans also fights the organic food movement and lobbies against lowering the legal blood alcohol limit for drunk driving.

Yet another reason for any rational human being to hate PETA. Then again, PETA's support doesn't come from rational human beings, it comes from dirty hippies who are too strung out on LSD to know how to put their hemp sandals on the right feet, yet are so self- righteous that they have no problem with screaming at anyone they see who isn't a vegan and calling them "Nazis."
PETA sucks, plain and simple, and this just reveals what hypocrites they are.

Here is the source of the 2006 PeTA stats used by the Center for Consumer Freedom:

http://www.virginia.gov/vdacs_ar/cgi-bin/Vdacs_search.cgi?link_select=facility&form=fac_select&fac_num=157&year=2006

I found this by navving to //www.virginia.gov, searching for VDACS, then narrowing the search further to find PeTA's current and previous yearly reports. Who cares who reported this information to the public originally? PeTA was 9 months late turning this over - I wonder why? The data shows PeTA killed over 97% of the animals turned in to its' 'shelter.' The previous year (2005) it was "just" over 90%. What will it be when 2007's statistics are released?

This organization is clearly bent on destroying life. Its' corporate culture is DEATH. Anything PeTA recommends, wants, or asks for is deeply suspect and should be automatically rejected. Period.

wow you guys are pretty ignorant

Peta is not some ginormous shelter

humanity is so overrated

Quote from http://www.peta2.com/uk/uk-volunteer.asp

"So why not volunteer for PETA Europe? There are more animals who need saving than there are people willing to lend a hand …"

Knowing PETA's program about helping pets that sentence probably continues "... to put down animals immediately!"
