New Jersey Paves the Way to Slavery Reparations

Among the most outrageous positions held by moonbats is that people should be paid for being part black, on the grounds that some of their ancestors might have been slaves. It's unlikely that anyone alive has no ancestors who were slaves, but never mind that. Never mind that no current taxpayers owned any slaves. Never mind the thousands of lives Americans sacrificed to end slavery. Never mind the blacks who really are "African-Americans" because they immigrate here from Africa, or the many more who come from the Caribbean. The important thing is to advance socialism by coercively redistributing wealth, and to exacerbate the racial strife the Democrat Party has been so adept at exploiting.

New Jersey, which abolished Slavery over 160 years ago, has paved the path toward reparations by officially apologizing for slavery. Not only does a recent resolution express "profound regret" for the past, it pretends that blacks suffer from slavery to this day:

[T]he vestiges of slavery are ever before African-American citizens, from the overt racism of hate groups to the subtle racism encountered when requesting health care, transacting business, buying a home, seeking quality public education and college admission, and enduring pretextual traffic stops and other indignities.

The implication that they deserve to be compensated will be clear to any liberal.

It's bad enough New Jersey taxpayers have to pay legislators to wallow in this moonbattery. But the worst might be yet to come.

On a tip from Conan.

Whenever I hear about reparations for slavery, I always wonder who is expected to come up with the money. People seem to be under the delusion that only two races live in this country.
What about the Asian-Americans, who had nothing to do with slavery? Or the American Indians, some of whose tribes, like the Cherokees, owned slaves. Will they pay too? The majority of white people in the United States have at least one ancestor who came through Ellis Island, which opened long after 1865. What of the Jews who escaped Nazi Germany in the 1930s and their descendents? Are they expected to pay up for something they had nothing to do with?
Finally, what about people of mixed race? Does that cancel things out?

At one time Dublin was Western Europes' biggest slave Port, under the Vikings. They captured slaves from Britain and took most of their trade down to the Moors. Should Norway, Sweden and Denmark be paying reparations to Britain. The Romans had slaves. Should Italians today be paying reparations to all Nations once within their Empire. The Arabs were slave capturing and slave trading long before the Portuguese turned up in Africa and started it for the Europeans. Should the arabs be paying reparations to Africa? The word Slave originates from Slav. The Ottomans and their predecessors also took a lot of slaves from Slavic regions, so today's Turks have some paying out to do: Where will it ever end. Looks to me like everybody owes somebody. Even the Africans owe other Africans for slavery conducted in the past. On the whole, I think that there ought to be a lot of growing up on all this. There is only a future and not a past.

Yeah, let's take a note from Malkin's article in JWR demanding reparations for every injustice ever committed to someone who isn't us but happened to be from the same race.

Then again, try that stunt anywhere except the West, and you'll likely end up imprisoned without trial.

What about reparations for the descendants of New Jersey soldiers killed in battle during the War Between the States (aka the Civil War)?

What about any New Jersey soldiers that died in the Andersonville, Ga. prison camp?

Were there any New Jersey soldiers that died in the explosion and sinking of the Sultana, after they were released from Andersonville?

We already have "reparations". It's called welfare.

"What about any New Jersey soldiers that died in the Andersonville, Ga. prison camp?"

As the camp became so crowed we could no longer care for even HALF of them, the Southern government offered to do prisoner exchanges reguardless of rank (Before it was a sergent for a sergent, a captain for a captain, ect). LINCOLN refused, so President Davis offered to trade THREE FEDS for ONE confed. Lincoln refused again. Davis then offered to GIVE them as many prisoners as they would take and Lincoln agreed to take THREE THOUSAND.
The prisoners were sent to Charleston where they waited for about a WEEK (It was expected that they would only be there for a couple of days, so proper facilities and FOOD were not provided). Federal ships finally came and the confeds were told that they would only take FIFTEEN HUNDRED and that there would not be any more prisoners taken back to the north. The remaining prisoners then had to make the trip back to Andersonville.
When they got the poor men to Philidelphia, the government hired a photographer who in 1890, revieled that he was ordered to photograph the WORST CASES and these are the ones you see in the history books.

Is there any reason your ancesstors COULDN'T let us form our own country? That's all we wanted, we had no designs on your lands, we just couldn't live in the same country with New England who had repeatedly violated the US Constitution.

I believe that just as Asians and many Jewish people have been paid for there years of unjust pain, African Americans should also receive something. We have experienced many years of lynching, and unexplained acts of racism. We may recover as individuals, but the overwhelming pain of years of marginalization can not be erased nor forgotten. Where did the money come from to pay the Jews? The Asians? To help the Cubans? HELP US HELP OURSELVES! Or does the government prefer that we create a series of unfortunate events starting with drug dealing in our own communities, to gang violence that kills innocent children all of which will lead to a slow and painful death of one racet; my own! How about a genocide? That's what it sounds like to me... That would save America alot of time. Could these be the thoughts of White America? I am more into action, are these the actions of Amerikkka? Is America still divided? Doesn't it seem like the death toll is higher than the birth rate in alot of our African American communities? Could this mean that we as a people are crying out for sometype of attention just like a child would to their parents. Who are our parents? Don't we deserve something since we can no longer claim Africa as our home and America doesn't want us either? We are an orphan race, with no home and the one place that we call home wouldn't care if we just ran away... I don't want to runaway I want to stay home and collect allowance that I well deserve for picking "good cotton for my master." What happen to my 4 acres and a mule? Slavery was abolished and so was the idea. We were fed dreams and alot of us are still dreaming. I am awake and starving... America feed me!
