McCain Voted "Most Unacceptable" — By His Own County

The media is about ready to crown John "Lettuce" McCain the Republican nominee. Too bad voters nationwide don't know him as well as the folks who put him in office. In McCain's own Maricopa County, a Republican Party Straw Poll elected him "Most Unacceptable."

This could have something to do with the way he has stabbed Arizona in the back on the illegal immigration issue. We've also had a chance to notice that on virtually every topic except the war in Iraq — drilling in the ANWR wasteland, buying into the economically menacing global warming hoax, waterboarding terrorists, closing Club Gitmo, Bush's tax cuts, the "campaign finance" assault on the First Amendment — McCain has been a reliable liberal. If McCain is a Republican, so is Joe Lieberman.

Sorry Lettuce.

On a tip from Wiggins.

You mean that his closest constituents don't think he's a "hero straight-talker"?

My Uncle lives in Tempe and says that he wouldn't vote for McCain for Dog-Catcher.

'Dear' Senator McCain, won't be voting for you or your Straight Talk - out of your ass - Express in this election either!

Have A Nice Day.

John McCain would rather thousands of Americans die than pour water up a terrorist's nose for thirty seconds. Nuff said.

When I visited my brother about 18 months ago, we talked politics and he referred to John McCain as "his hero".

My brother is a longtime diehard liberal union Democrat.

Makes sense, I guess. I don't know what any Republican would see in him.

As an ASU grad and former AZ resident in the 80's-90's this makes me jump for joy! I can't wait until any one of McAmnesty's opponents shove this in his face. He's a crook and a charlatan. Remember Charles Keating and the S&L scandal? No one does because his rap sheet has grown so much since then. He was guilty as sin and got off scott-free. Screw him.

"If McCain is a Republican, so is Joe Lieberman." Actually McCain and Lieberman are good examples of what Democrats used to be. Believe or not, there was a time when you could at least count on Democrats to take national security issues seriously.

If McCain somehow gets the Republican nomination, he should choose Fred Thompson as VP - so when he croaks Fred can take over. Fred isnt perfect but he is better than any of the others. Bloomberg appears ready to do his Ross Perot imitation to try and get Shillary or Osama into the Whitehouse. That would be a truly ugly turn of events. Joe Lieberman is probably the only Democrat I would find even slightly acceptable - too bad hes not running.

Well, I live in Pinal county, just across the border and i can attest that the intellect jumps three-fold upward when a person leaves Maricope-wid-it county. The anti McCain crowd are puppets of KFYI's Bruce Jacobs and that washed up former almost indicted congressman J.D. Hayworth (now being a disk jockey of all things).

I'm anti-McCain, and I've never even heard of Bruce Jacobs. Or KYI.

He is opposed to passenger rail transportation. He has voted to get rid of AMTRAK at a time of increased fuel cost. Phoenix is not only the largest city in the U. S. without passenger trains, it is the largest city in the world without passenger train service. His opposition to using energy efficient rail transportation speaks volumes about his true energy agenda. I am an Arizona voter that will look elsewhere for a leader.

If rail transportation is so efficient, when will Amtrak show a profit?

Perhaps, Sen. McCain has spent too much time in Washington D.C., and not enough time in The Valley of the Sun!

If you think that so called "Straw Poll" meqant anything, your completely misinformed. The MCRC is irrelevant, many of those 'votes' wer made via Proxy. The person running the 'Poll' is a noted McCain Hater. So don't get too excited. McCain will win AZ easily on Feb 5th. Nice Try!

"Believe or not, there was a time when you could at least count on Democrats to take national security issues seriously."

Bo, what makes you think they don't?

And what makes you think these Republicans are any better?

It would be a different story if the Bush Crime Family hadn't refused to seal the borders, and turned our ports and cargo security over to foreign lands hospitable to Waahabist Muslims.

I don't see one whit of difference on security issues between the two parties...it is just that the Democrats don't overstate the issue.

I'm sure I'm opening a whole new can of worms with this comment,or nobody will care, one of the two, but.......Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu being one of my hobbies, I was turned off by McCain ever since I started paying attention to politics in high school in the early to mid 90's. For those who aren't in the know, McCain led the media's witch hunt against early mixed martial arts competitions. The sport is definitely not for everyone, and I don't hold it against anybody who doesn't watch MMA because they aren't in to that sort of thing,(my wife included.) However, the competitors don't need John McCain and the cast of Dateline, or 20/20 to dictate what's best for them. Trying to ban a sport because it seems too mean and scary for those who don't know anything about it seemed out of tune with the principles of his supposed political party.
While I am certainly not cage fighter material, and won't be nearly good enough for the foreseeable future, I train with guys that are, (My JiuJitsu instructor trains Tommy Speer i.e. runner up in this past season's "Ultimate Fighter" and Travis Wiuff i.e. UFC, Pride and IFL veteran.) Both guys are very disciplined and they are both certainly capable of deciding for themselves what their hobbies (or careers) should be without John McCain holding their hand through the decision making process.
