Global Warming Farce Deflated by Facts

Even the Boston Globe is starting to notice that Emperor Albert's new clothes consist of his birthday suit:

In South America, for example, the start of winter last year was one of the coldest ever observed. According to Eugenio Hackbart, chief meteorologist of the MetSul Weather Center in Brazil, "a brutal cold wave brought record low temperatures, widespread frost, snow, and major energy disruption." In Buenos Aires, it snowed for the first time in 89 years, while in Peru the cold was so intense that hundreds of people died and the government declared a state of emergency in 14 of the country's 24 provinces. In August, Chile's agriculture minister lamented "the toughest winter we have seen in the past 50 years," which caused losses of at least $200 million in destroyed crops and livestock.

It wasn't just South America. As geophysicist David Deming observed, "unexpected bitter cold swept the entire Southern Hemisphere in 2007." Australia and New Zealand experienced record lows.

The Northern Hemisphere hasn't escaped the chill. My backyard in Phoenix is still in ruins as a result of the extreme cold that wreaked havoc last winter. In the other corner of the country, New Hampshire set a new record with 44.5 inches of snow last month. The Canadian government is now forecasting the coldest winter in nearly 15 years.

Think how cold it would have been without the hot air generated by Gore's acolytes at the BBC, who a year ago were screeching that 2007 would be the "warmest year on record."

Maybe the cold weather, like all weather, is caused by global warming, in accordance with the scriptures of the Goracle. But it's more likely that the slight warming trend of the 1990s is over, and we are headed for some unpleasant cold, as predicted by Oleg Sorokhtin, who bases his warnings not on moonbat ideology, but on cycles in solar activity.

There has been no global warming for nearly a decade now. It will be interesting to see if looney-left outfits like the BBC drop the whole farce in favor of some still more urgent crisis in time to salvage even a shred of credibility.

Warm weather is not the problem.

Near Pittsburgh though records may be broken today and tomorrow with highs in the mid 60s, of real note is when the previous records were established (1930-1946). And all time January highs in the 70s were mostly between 1890 and 1946.

Jacoby is wrong in a great many places in his article.

But remember, global warming also creates CLIMATE CHANGE, which is how these folks can explain the bitter cold in Florida that threatens the citrus crop and other cold weather irregularities.

Until there are farms in Greenland as there were 1000 years ago during the reign of the Vikings, all this global warming crap is nothing but BS. And even if it got that warm in Greenland, we would only be back to where we were 1,000 years ago. Climate is far too complex with too many factors to assume that man is responsible. Many SCIENTISTS have concluded that big ball of fire in the sky is responsible for climate change, not man. Even if man were responsible we are not going to reduce our standard of living to 3rd world conditions to MAYBE reduce CO2 levels that MAY affect climate 100 years from now. The real reason for this hysteria is money - government research grants, carbon credit trading scams and redistribution of wealth/worldwide socialism.

David up there is already sold on his "science." Whatever, dude. Your blog is one big scare party. You are as evangelical as Huckabee is, and just as filled with hubris.

Nice try asshat, but McIntyre already bitchsmacked your idol Hansen for his unscrupulous change of the leaderboards. Face it, this has been the 1-2 punch, first from McKittrick and then from McIntyre. Your boy Hansen is a slimebag making blood money off the world's poor. If I believed in a Hell, James Hansen would be there with all the other liars and traitors.

Everyone should read Michael Crichton's STATE OF FEAR - especially the author's notes at the end of the book.
