Ron Paul: Lift Sanctions on Iran
Ron Paul's libertarian ideas can be very appealing — what reasonable American wouldn't want to cut the size of the government and pull out of the execrable UN? — but unfortunately his dangerously naive attitude toward foreign policy disqualifies him for higher office.
Now Paul wants to lift sanctions on Iran and pull the Navy back from its shores. It's almost as if he takes the bogus NIE report seriously.
On a tip from Cheetah.

I never trust a guy with 2 first names. Ron Paul is clearly in the running for the Mayor of Crazy Town. He's similar to Pat Buchannan, who would likely be his running mate. Both of them want the US to hide within its own borders and wait for the Islamo Fascists to attack us.
While Libertarian ideals of smaller federal government and personal freedoms are admirable, these 2 guys go off the rails when it comes recogizing the threat posed by Islamo Fascists. Ron Paul has as much chance of being the Republican nominee as I do.

Wait unitl he decides to run as a third party candidate and hands the election to the democrats. You'll really love him then.

I don't see how lifting sanctions would benefit the anti-American Islamists in Iran? Sanctions haven't hurt Castro. In fact, they have helped entrench him in power by giving him a bad guy whom the people view as one they protection from.
Many Iranian people like capitalism and even democracy. They like American culture and buy satellite dishes to watch TV shows, enjoy Coca-cola , etc... We could take advantage of this by pumping then the aspects of our culture they relate to and want. This would actually hurt the hardline clerics more than treating the regime as enemy no 1 loudly and publicly.

mandy;
ever hear of "government confiscation"? Maybe you should ask someone about the "hands across America" fiasco a few years back. It was SUPPOSED to aid famine-wracked Ethiopia, but "bandits" were capturing the goods and shipments were being held up by the Ethiopian government through "red tape" and graft. Later we learned that it was the ETHIOPIAN GOVERNMENT that had induced the famine to get rid of "undesirables", the relief efforts were HURTING them! The same will happen in Iran.
By The Way, there are about a DOZEN countries traiding with Cuba, are you lefties suggesting that without trade with THE UNITED STATES communist countries can't survive?
