Lions for Lambs Flops

Brian De Palma's unconscionable Redacted isn't the only liberal antiwar movie to bomb recently. Though it didn't push its defeatist message to the point of treason like De Palma's proterrorist propaganda, Lions for Lambs also fell on its face, despite major star power and an advertising blitz.
Variety reports that it probably won't gross $20 million domestically, or more than $60 million worldwide. The only bright side: it cost a mere $35 million to produce, probably because it consisted largely of actors pretentiously jawing at each other. Nonetheless, other costs are involved; the movie could lose up to $25 million.
It has been 20 years since a Tom Cruise movie last grossed under $20 million domestically.
By now audiences are so accustomed to demoralizing leftist swill from Tinseltown, it's doubtful any movie dealing with the war in Iraq could draw an audience.

On a tip from Lyle.
