The Ditsy Twits of Bridge

You don't have to be a mediocre pop star to garner media attention by putting down the President on foreign soil: even bridge players can do it.

Last month a pair of nitwits had the bad taste to hold up a sign reading "We did not vote for Bush" at the World Bridge Championship. Their childish and contemptible behavior may not warrant a Time Magazine cover, but it did get them a spot on CBS's "Early Show," which predictably portrayed the obnoxious sows as righteous victims caught up in a "storm of controversy"; via NewsBusters:

Now, these women, who have won several awards, are facing a backlash and could face tough sanctions, including a year long ban from competition… Now we'll see how the bridge ladies play this hand. But the cards may be stacked against them.

Yuk yuk. Even if they were ashamed of the fact, these women were representing America in a hostile country. They had a responsibility to behave like grownups. But then, so does the mainstream media — and that doesn't put much of a brake on the moonbattery.

Kinda makes you wonder about these two brain-childs. Winning a Bridge tournament and making a political statement is more important than the safety of your country, your town, and your children, and your public image.

Has anyone informed these two that acting like stupid idiots is not a virture and does little to protect the afore-mentioned?

I am never amazed at the stupidity of some people how deride the freest country in the world and seem to think their living in some sort of police state. If they want to know what a police state Canada is turning into they need go no further then this story http://www.noapologies.ca/2007/11/human-rights-commission-a-grav.html about a poor girl who is threatened with 5 years in prison for putting scripture contrary to the thought police's position on the internet.

"Nothing makes the game look more backwards, small-minded and elitist than punishing a championship team for using their moment of glory to send a political message well within the mainstream of American society"

I think it should be tattooed on their foreheads.

I mean - if they're really serious about making their hate public...

Note that the sign is folded. Maybe the rest of the sign read "Please Don't Kill Us, You Commie Ba****ds".
