Rosa Brooks: Torture Is Centerpiece of GOP Platform
Just how profound is the moral and intellectual derangement of modern liberals? Rosa Brooks of La Times offers a clue by asserting that "For the GOP, torture is the new abortion."
That is, approving of torture is now a litmus test for Republican candidates, just as opposition to abortion allegedly was but is no longer. Torture is the one issue that takes precedence over all others — the centerpiece of the party platform.
By "torture," Brooks means waterboarding select terrorists to save American lives. Evidently she has no clue what real torture entails.
Brooks isn't bright enough to notice the irony of her comparing abortion (which she implicitly endorses) with interrogating terrorists (which she opposes if it causes them discomfort). Given the choice between waterboarding and having their skulls crushed and brains sucked out, few would chose the latter.
The irony gets even deeper when Brooks sanctimoniously refers to the Declaration of Independence. As you might recall, that document refers to the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I'll repeat that first one, since Brooks seems not to have noticed it: LIFE. I couldn't find a reference to the right of foreign terrorists to kill American citizens without being forcefully interrogated if captured.

Typical smirking, angry "redheaded stepdaughter" out settle some kind of score in life...reading her screwy columns (if you can stand it for very long) will tell you that much about her.

Well we can all take heart in the fact that readership of newspapers across the country is falling fast. I think the NY Times is holding on by a thread of having to close it's doors.

Typical self-loathing "blame America first" jerkweed (who'd be the first to scream for help from the U.S. military if she were ever courageous enough to put her money where her mouth is and actually drop in on one of her favorite countries, like Syria or Iran).
Oh, well, if the burqua fits . . .
