Animal Rights Moonbats Denounce Venison Donations
Posted by Dave Blount at November 19, 2007 6:37 AM
Hunters helping to keep down the problematic deer population in the Northeast, and also providing free food to the poor by donating venison are to be congratulated, right? Wrong, scowl animal rights kooks. Their twisted logic:
The Humane Society of the United States says that most hunters are pursuing a recreational activity whose purpose is not food gathering. "Rather than spending money on a recreational pursuit and donating the byproducts, spending that money on other types of charitable programs or food for the hungry would be a great alternative," says Michael Markarian, executive vice president of the Humane Society. "If hunters are donating the spoils, [feeding the hungry] is really a secondary issue."
If I understand this moonbattery, giving venison to the poor is politically incorrect unless charity is the primary motive for shooting the deer — as opposed to sport or the urgent issue of population control — in which case it would be okay.
Markarian also suggests we deal with the menace of deer on the roadways by "installing reflectors to prevent roadside collisions." A more workable solution might be to tie animal rights nuts to front of your car to absorb the impact when tic-ridden deer jump out in front of you.
On a tip from Scott.
