Half of New Jersey Wants Out

It's a paradox for liberals: the higher they raise taxes, the less revenue they bring in. This is not only because higher taxes suffocate the economy, so that there is less wealth to be expropriated, but also because taxpayers flee from excessively greedy state governments.

As mentioned earlier, the 72,547 people who escaped from New Jersey last year cost the state an estimated $680 million in tax revenues. Now we learn that a full 50% of the residents of New Jersey want to leave.

Retired police officer Frederick Huffenus plans to move to North Carolina:

You're penalized for living here all your life, you work hard and save all your life, and then you're taxed.

Maybe we can get the government to follow through with its promise to build a wall after all — provided it's built around New Jersey, and designed not to keep invaders out, but taxpayers in.

Corzine ought to invest in one of these while he still has a tax base.

I remember years ago people saying that New Jersey should be split in two (Industrialized crappy north and more rural nicer south). California was also mentioned as another state that should be split up (crappy illegal infested south vs. the nice normal north).

Of course then we would all have to buy new 52 star flags!

I live a a rural area of South Carolina.
It has recently been announced that two companies are planning on developing high-end projects(about 1000 units each, houses and townhouses) for the over 55 crowd in the county.
Both of these firms are headquartered in New Jersey and the newspaper article stated the substantial portion of marketing of these units would be in New Jersey to current New Jersey residents.
It's no big surprise that a lot of people move South in the latter stages of their lifes, but it is unusual for them to come to this part of the country.

if you remember,,, Fritz the cat by crumb. NJ was walled off into NEW AFRICA. this was back in the 1960-1970s.

that would of been a good start since all the crime coming out of newark, spills into staten island, and into CO-OP city.

just yesterday i had a tech in my office repairing some equipment whom was from NJ, we started just randomly talking about thing, and go into how NJ is run, he agreed its turning into some new kind of hell, and corzine should of died in that car crash last year. he said its basically a democrate controlled one party state and there is no hope for any change with the way they have twisted the laws down below. it will continue to sink to new lows and turn into detroit within the next few years. which as it fails will leak more off NY, and slide the hell i live in here, deeper into the pit of insanity.

It should be noted, half the population of long island NY, are getting out of here for North Carolina also. you can thank all the corruption out there for the likes of Spitzer our amazingly retarded govenor, which somehow got propped up and thrown into office. Man i miss pataki and rudy...

the tech i spoke to above will also be living trenton NJ for the shores of North Carolina within the next 2 years, he has had it, between the highest property taxes and car insurance in the country, he can't make it on 65K a year in the radon hell that NJ is

The problem is, will these refugees learn their lesson, or will they continue to spread the cancer of democratic-socialist moonbattery wherever they land... just as California spread its cancer to Seattle and Portland.

California was also mentioned as another state that should be split up (crappy illegal infested south vs. the nice normal north.

You got some adjectives switched around. Should be "nice normal south" vs. "crappy, moonbat-infested north."

I don't have a problem with most of the Mexicans, legal or otherwise. They're mostly hard-working and just trying to build better lives for themselves and their families (barring a few a-holes, of course). I'd trade hard-working family-oriented Mexicans for rabid American leftists any day.

furballz, that was actually the Fritz sequel: "The Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat" from 1974. I have the DVD and it's a scream. In the end, the President of New Africa was assassinated by Black Panther types and Fritz was framed for the crime.

thanks i knew it was one or the other :)
its been years since i watched them both.

Jay,

Maybe a little more than adjectives, but geographical as well. Rather than north and south, California should be split east and west. All coastal cities from Eureka to San Diego in one state and everyone inland in another. There is something about the ocean that brings out the moonbat in folks, or so it seems.

Posted by: mike at October 18, 2007 1:39 PM

Mike, I live near the ocean!

Most of the state is pretty sensible. The problem is that SF and LA have attracted ding-a-lings from across the whole country, and those ding-a-lings have a lot of clout. (Plus, as noted above, the Republican candidates tend to be pretty feeble.) My area (in Bilbray's district) is firmly pro-American, pro-military, and anti-moonbat - one reason I live here.

New Jersey is my native state. And its being ruined by idiot liberals. Taxachusetts is no better . . . but WHY are liberals too stupid to see how much they are wrecking America?!?!
Better yet: why are so many so stupidly electing these fools into power?!?!?!

Posted by: ToddonCapeCod at October 18, 2007 6:32 PM

I can only hope that enough New Jersey residents will remain angry enough over how they're being taxed to death, so that next year they will not vote for Queen Hillary

Posted by: ToddonCapeCod at October 18, 2007 6:34 PM

I have lived in Jersey all my life, and the current state of affairs is sickening. The politicians have regulated business to death, taxed its citizens to the breaking point, created a power base comprised of legions of tax takers and essentially rendered the place unlivable.

The scum in Trenton have created $127.6 BILLION in unfunded liabilities and will, no doubt, again squeeze the taxpayers.

There simply is no animal known to man that is more stupid than the average New Jersey voter.

Count me among the 50%.

NY is going the same way. Socialism has killed the State. It survives because the City, oddly, is the capitalist center of the world. The City creates so much money that the State can leach off it w/ ridiculously high taxes, funding cvorrupt socialist politicians. The problem w/ upstate is that the taxes are the same high rates, but there is no capitalist wave to fund it. So Upstate NY is Appalachia North. Actually, at this time, worse than Appalachia.

The comments about federalism are 100% correct. If the socialists win, they will federalize everything, so nobody will be able to move to a lower tax state. There goes America. Gosh it's scary.
