Pete Seeger Proves It's Never Too Late to Grow Up
Folk singer Pete Seeger, who was born in 1919, subscribed to the communist publication The New Masses in 1932, formally joined the Communist Party in 1942, and declared "I'm still a communist" as recently as 2004, has figured out that his old hero Joseph Stalin was not such a nice guy.
Though his singing voice "has been reduced to a throaty croak," Seeger has written a new song entitled "The Big Joe Blues." The lyrics include the lines:
I'm singing about old Joe, cruel Joe.
He ruled with an iron hand.
He put an end to the dreams of so many in every land.
Seeger went on several propaganda junkets to the Soviet Union during the height of the Cold War in the 1960s. Now he says:
I think I should have though, when I was in the Soviet Union — I should have asked "Can I see one of the old gulags?"
Seeger is 88 years old. Maybe there's still hope for Jane Fonda.
On a tip from Wiggins.

I thought that old pre-hippy fossil was dead. Anyway, for my money, it's waaaay too late to change his stripes.
This Land is your Land....so please have your family inter your sorry ass, Pete.

Pete Seeger can say those things now but decades ago, in the '50's, people quit the American communist party as soon as they found out about Stalin. This man is no dupe. He's a communist.

At a minimum*, Pete's no longer a dupe for anybody. Unlike some who post here.
* Turns out Pete spoke out against Stalin much before. It pays to pay attention, sometimes.
