Liberals Spew Bile at Seahawks For Being Polite to the President

Liberal tolerance has shown its ugly face in Seattle, after Seahawk stars Matt Hasselbeck and Mack Strong went beyond the pale by presenting President Bush with a No. 43 jersey at a fundraiser for Rep. Dave Reichert in nearby Bellevue.

The local response was harsh. Bile was spat at Hasselbeck via voice mails, emails, and text messages. One loyal fan told him:

I hate you, I'll never wear your jersey, I'll never like the Seahawks again.

Whined a moonbat on a seattlepi.com blog:

To learn that two of the most popular Seahawks are strong (Bush) supporters ruins the season for me and my family.

This, for simply showing respect for the President of the United States.

It should be noted that while Hasselbeck and Strong tilt Republican, they once visited alleged Washington Governor Christine Gregoire and gave her an autographed football. Hasselbeck has met with Al Gore. I doubt they lost many Republican fans.

But then, Republicans just aren't tolerant like liberals.

Defensive linemen are downright friendly compared to moonbats.

LOL...another stunning show of the maturity and ruggedness that we have long come to expect from "Liberals".

Hah, and that's in sports.

I mean, 90% of the music I listen to is from before the 80s. I know damn well John Lennon was a communist, Pink Floyd hates Bush, etc. But see, I'm not a grudge-holding, unforgiving liberal.

Posted by: Alex at September 7, 2007 3:45 AM

Yet another case of terminal "Bush Derangement Syndrome".... Sad really.

We'll say a prayer for you, you poor soul...(LOL).

"I hate you, I'll never wear your jersey, I'll never like the Seahawks again."

Usually competent parents try to eliminate that type of tantrum during the preschool years.

Posted by: mustafa p at September 7, 2007 8:04 AM

If all bed wetting liberals who claim they're football fans quit watching the NFL altogether how would we know they were gone? These sissys are more comfortable in a kitchen or garden than they are around big nasty sport stars.

I'm sure Hasselbeck and Strong are quaking in their boots over the prospect of losing these diehard fans (Read:pissants).

Where can I get a Seahawks jersey?

Posted by: Mister Prickly at September 7, 2007 9:13 AM

Heckuva a contrast to the Houston Texans, who honored Halliburton CEO Dave Lesar at a game last year!

Posted by: Texan at September 7, 2007 11:44 AM

Pro football lost alot of its appeal when free agency came along but i'll be rootin for the hawks this year. In music I also listen to what I like until they pull a Dixie Cricks stunt.

Posted by: Hemlock at September 8, 2007 4:45 AM

As a life long Broncos fan I have never liked anything about the seahawks. Now that they are part of the NFC and are showing some spine I may have to give them another chance.

Posted by: James at September 9, 2007 4:06 PM

Why don't you all get on your knees, open your mouths, and really show Bush how much you love him.

Suck ups.

Oh - and prove that you love America - go to Iraq.

Posted by: rougy at September 10, 2007 2:47 PM

Get a grip people.
Living in the Deep South I realize football is more of a religion than any other.
I am a Seahawks fan and I resent any of the players using their seahawkws connections for a political reason
In this country, we have the freedom to hate our president. Seeing "W" makes me ill. I understand the response that seeing those players giving him anything is revolting.

Posted by: sojouner geneen at September 10, 2007 2:49 PM

I didn't know you had to love or even support somebody in order to show common courtesy. Bush may not be perfect but he deserves a little respect. Apparently,it's only okay to show hostility towards someone if you're liberal but that's nothing new.

Posted by: Swabbie at September 10, 2007 3:21 PM

And to think, when I was young and idealistic, I was a democrat. I have been around the track and now register Libertarian.
And, what does any thinking person think a liberal would say about Bush?

Posted by: James at September 10, 2007 4:34 PM

Don't you mean INTOLERANT...By the supposedly tolerant, forgiving, understanding liberals !!!
Who want you to believe their B.S.
Rougy...You have a lot of class !!!
I think I'll start rooting for the Seahawks now !!!

Bush is easily the worst thing to ever happen to the united states. Anyone that doesn't see that is beyond foolish.

Posted by: jim at September 10, 2007 5:56 PM

Bill Clinton was alot worse for the USA than Bush ever will be. But as President Bill and George get respect from Americans, whining from the beyond foolish crowd.

Posted by: Al Gore at September 10, 2007 6:04 PM

worst president in history. doesnt matter if he is a republican. he is just the worst.

Posted by: Troy at September 10, 2007 6:24 PM

I'm a Bears fan, but this is anough to make me want to buy a Hasselbeck jersey! Once again, the whining, crybaby Dummycraps show their true colors. "I'll never like the Seahawks again.".."Wahhhhh! You won't play by my rules. I'm taking my toys and going home!"
The symbol for the Democratic Party shouldn't be the donkey, it should be the condom! It halts productivity, protects a bunch of dicks, and gives you a false sense of security while you're being screwed!

Posted by: Jon at September 10, 2007 6:31 PM

What do you mean by halting productivity? You mean like busting unions, and hiring illegals, or just shipping your business overseas? That's what we have to thank the non-taxpaying CEOs and fatcats of the Republican party for. I'm a Seahawks fan, and a real lefty, too, but I concentrate on the game on the field, not the mistakes in judgement these young millionaires have shown in picking a political party or philosophy to follow.

Posted by: Gordy at September 10, 2007 6:59 PM

There's a difference between visiting with someone and being just plain civil versus going to a fund raising event representing financial endorsement
most posters have gotten off the subject

Posted by: tina at September 10, 2007 7:32 PM

It is so great to see how intelligent some football fans are. I believe it was good ole Bill Clinton (democrat) that pardoned some of those good ole boys (terrorist). But yet George Bush is the one who catches it when the mess has to be cleaned up. I hate to say it, but if you look at history, there has never been peace over there and there won't be, because they don't understand tolerance. But from the looks of the anti-Bush fans, it looks like we have some just as narrow minded people here. I can see it now as our troops come home and they line the streets to spit on our soldiers that they don't agree with. Of course, if the war was here and they didn't defend those people, they would be cowards and anti-American. I am sorry, I forgot tolerance is only if you agree, with someone right!!

Posted by: Earl at September 10, 2007 9:01 PM

I wonder if the German athletes paid homeage to Adolf as he took away their civil rights, hypontizing them into participating in the halocaust, attempting to set his political ideals and views upon other countries.

With Hitler then, as with GWB now, the majority were blinded, willingly gave away their country in the name of patriotism, in the name of the Homeland, they followed most willingly as they led an entire race to their poisonous doom and furnaces, as he sent soldiers off to fight in a bloody war that would turn the whole of the world away from them.

Yes...anyone can rationalize degenerate behavior... can rationalize the stripping of their civil liberties... can rationalize the theft of our children's future... can turn their eyes from the rape of our national treasury and the bankruptcy of our country, selling us out to other countries(China, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, all of whom count us as infidels) all the while emassing themselves (the Haliburton's, the congressmen who leave public service for service to the lobbyist) vast fortunes off the backs of hard working citizens... citizens who have put their trust in leaders who are supposed to be working for the good of the people, for the people, by the people, but who wallow in their own greed, working out deals with lobbyist, who seek nothing more than to make us slaves to our homes, our cars, our job... anyone can justify the deaths of innocents in the name of vengeance and oil...

Anyone can rationalize... as long as it doesn't come into your home, on your block, in your city, in your state... as long as the status quo remains...

But by then...it will be too late...and then you will have no more rationalizations to make.

Not written by a Republican, nor a Democrat... not even an Independent... written by an American, a citizen of these United States, who's God given right it is to speak out against my government... who's God given right it is call out against our "supposed" leaders when they are turning against our Constitution... and espousing that they are beyond the written laws of our country, your's and mine.

Our forefather's fought for these rights, they fought for the Constitution. My grandfather, my father, my brother and I have all fought for these rights, when we were called upon by our country. That these rights would be maintained as declared in the Constitution of the United States.

Before you shout out that GW is a good ole boy and is deserving of your respect, maybe you should look closer into his true politics. The blood of our father's is shouting out to you.

After a few years of seeing exchanges between Democrats and Republicans, Liberals and Conservatives, when I am old enough to vote I will definately vote Republican. Seriously, from what I've seen, Dems and Libs are extremely uncivil and speak almost as if preaching if they are coherent. You people are terrible. At least republicans are civil, and don't spew out blatant untruths and whine like babies. They speak intelligently, and wittily. Oh, and go Seahawks.

Posted by: GoBush at September 11, 2007 2:46 AM

All of you bush backers instead of sticking your heads in the sand you should look into who was really involved in the 9/11 attack on so called American soil. Bush is up to his neck in it! He allowed and in my opinion ordered this attack! and by the way I am not republican, nor democrat, nor independant, I am Athabascan indian I have watched my people be murdered by you folks for years! so i definitly have a little different slant on all this than any of you so called Americans! So pull your heads out of your asses and use the pea in your pods and really look into what this man stands for! Did you know the bush family owns the shipping line that carries everything into and out of Iraq? Everybody knows the Haliburton connection to The big Dick. Where's Osama? he is sitting at the white house having dinner and drinks with your president! Bush invaded Iraq under false pretenses and then was deeply involved in murdering a world leader(Saddam Insain)not that he was a great person! Here in the land of the free and the home of the enslaved everybody has their little niche so they do not want to make any waves! Bush sucks Dick and Dick licks Bush and most of the so called Americans are just flat out IDIOTS that could not put an intelligent thought in their heads and then go around spewing nonsense! wake the fuck up before you find yourselves in the same situation as the original inhabitants of this land! Oh you are almost there! Your free? try not paying your taxes on your car, house ,income your government will take everything you have and leave in the streets as many of my people are!!!! Good Morning America!!! I hope you all have a great day!!!

Posted by: Bruce at September 11, 2007 5:04 AM

liberals hate President Bush so insanely, that if HItler or Satan were around, they'd give them a parade and have them to dinner, just to stick it to our President. They ought to live in Mexico, France or some other country, where they belong. Or Maybe they ought to go live in Iraq or Iran. I'm still waiting for Alec Baldwin to go live in France. They are all anti america and are just salivating for us to loose in Iraq no matter what the cost. just because. They have no alligence to God or county. At least, the terrorist are just ignorant animals. These liberals are just hateful. They hate America. Yes they do.

What a shame, I do not support the war, I did not vote for Bush, I think he has been a bad president
but he is no Hitler by any means. Jimmy Carter, whom I voted for got us in a mess. I may not like Bush but I do respect him as our president.

I heard that the Cleveland Brown's tried to give Bush a jersey and he declined - what's up with that?

Posted by: ok then at September 11, 2007 6:51 AM

,...oh, and don't let the bull-sh** media, (whom I'm sure went out of their way to find a small handfull of angry Seahawks fans and get some negative media bytes) determine your your like or dislike for anyone - whether it's a particular NFL player (unless it's Michael Vick) or the President of our country. The media sucks and will do whatever they can to "create an issue" or sensationalize any topic. Remember, they all get paid when their piece is published or aired on TV.

THINK FOR YOURSELF!

Posted by: ok then at September 11, 2007 6:57 AM

Are you people so easily swayed? All someone has to do is give the president a gift and you ready to love him for life? Where do I sign up?

By the way, just because a person doesn't like our president and dares to express it, doesn't make them a liberal. This is the same petty, childish, small-minded thinking you're accusing the other guys of expressing.

That is why our country is in trouble. Nobody thinks. Just keep repeating what you hear on radio and tv.

Posted by: tg at September 11, 2007 7:12 AM

This is what qualifies as bile to the conservatives around here? Boy you guys must have some sort of apoplexy when one of the right's pundits calls someone a fag.

Posted by: eda at September 11, 2007 8:06 AM

This is a whole lot of nothing. Anything a public figure does is going to piss some people off or be taken out of context. And Bush's unpopularity is probably at it's height right now, so this sort of reaction isn't unexpected. But so far it isn't as bad as the knee-jerk reactions to what the Dixie Chicks said (haven't seen any death threats, or anyone calling the Seahawks traitors). All this proves is that there is plenty of stupid to go around across the *entire* political spectrum. Whether we'd like it to or not, maturity isn't something that comes with being liberal or conservative, it's a totally separate quality. I've often wondered if people pick sports teams in much the same way they pick political parties: they pick one that "clicks" with them, and then stick with it regardless of how it performs. Sure, they'll complain and bitch about their own team, but if anyone else *dares* to impugn their team, they get really defensive. And for the record, I don't think you have to be a "liberal" to dislike Bush. It's just a convenient way to dismiss people who do. Two more things: The fan that said "I hate you..." will probably still watch and go to games, and who cares what he says. The fan that says he was disappointed makes a much more reasonable point-- still expressing his opinion, but politely. So some of these guys are jerks, some are not. One another note, the Seahawks appeared to try to steer a politically neutral course, but the presentation of the jersey (a White House idea, according the the article) made it look like an endorsement from the players (and possibly the team). And it was done at a fundraiser for a republican candidate. All that said, I think it would be better if we spent more time holding our *politicians* accountable for their words and actions, and less time worrying about what our entertainers do, whether they are football players, actors, or musicians. But the people who want to express their displeasure with public figures should do so, but they should do it politely.

Posted by: Philip at September 11, 2007 8:14 AM

I heard the University of Georgia hired Michael Vick. Know why? To teach them dawgs how to FIGHT!

Posted by: Johnny Unitas at September 11, 2007 8:25 AM

The word is "intolerant". Tolerance is allowing actions/words you disagree with to go on or to be answered with dignity. I don't care about the jersey to the President - I'm sorry to see it at a fundraiser for a candidate I do not support - but democracy takes tolerance. I true liberal knows that.

Posted by: Kathleen at September 11, 2007 8:40 AM

Notice when there is a conservative pundit or politician speaking publically, that ONLY the "tolerant" liberals try to shout them down, throw pies and other things on stage, etc.? Conversely, you never hear about some half-cocked conservatives doing the same when a far-left "authorities" speak and say vile things?

True to form, the liberal mantra of "do as i say, not as I do" rears its ugly head again! Maybe those Seahawk fans need mommy and daddy to change their diapers better, as it is making them unruly and whining like little brats.

Posted by: Mike at September 11, 2007 9:05 AM

Why do we have to make everything little issue revolve around politics? This country has gone too far to either side and we need to try and work together as a whole. Not be Republican or Democrat. As long as we continue to determine our position as being opposite what the other guy thinks, we will never be able to work together and solve any of the problems we face as a country. Lets drop the political barriers and become a single country and people again vice two separate groups who disagree for the sake of disagreeing.

Posted by: An Upset American at September 11, 2007 9:09 AM

If the chickenhawks want to support Bush and give him jerseys at a political fundraiser that's their business...and anyone who disagrees with that decision has the same right to voice their displeasure. I fail to see how that makes them bigots.

What's more, if you look at the posts on this page you will see a lot more hatred and intollerance coming from the rightwing suppoters than those who oppose Bush's war. False choices like false prophets and those who send people to war because God talks to them are destined for junk heap of history. Unfortunately George of Arc and his Jihadi ways lead to a lot of needless death before they get their just rewards on history's junkpile.

Posted by: Rich at September 11, 2007 9:10 AM

I'm glad this isn't a huge conservative "pat yourself on the back"-fest all because of two immature people. That would almost make everybody here look even more immature than those guys.

Posted by: scoopapa at September 11, 2007 9:27 AM

Why is liberal automatically deemed Democrat. I am a liberal Republican because I have socially liberal views and believe it is the state's right to make the laws in most cases (Republican). My fiscal policies reflect that of the Republican party as well. I don't pull a lever though and vote down a ticket. I voted for Bush the first time (I'm sorry) and voted against him the second (Not that there has been much of a choice either time).

Too many people on both sides vote for their party. This includes people that leave their football team because a jersey was given to someone they didn't like. Football comes before politics...I don't watch the broncos because they vote the way I do, nor do I try to extort the vote by threatening to switch teams.

They are ignorant trators of this country and they use the ignorant people to push their cause. Most Liberals and Democrats are billionaires? Where do I sign up???

If you think it is wrong to challenge the pResident after he lies the country into an unnecessary and costly invasion and occupation of another country, I imagine that you were supportive of Clinton when he lied about receiving oral sex in the Oval Office. When Clinton lied, no one died. So if you demand respect for the current liar in chief, can we assume that you were strongly defending Clinton when the rabbid right were spending millions of taxpayer dollars trying to remove him? Somehow, I doubt that you're demand for "respect" for the current administration existed when Clinton was in office...

Given all the damage that has been done in 6 short years, I would take a thousand Clintons lying about sex over one GW who has divided this country, squandered our national treasure, lead to the deaths of thousands of innocents, and trashed our Civil Liberties. No President in the History of the US has done so much damage to the nation, damage that we may not recover from for generations to come...

Oh this article totally makes liberals intolerant.
That's two people, and having the seahawks quarterback meet Al Gore is not the same as meeting the president who has sentenced thousands of american troops to death in iraq. Kind of not the same thing, since Al gore never started a war, and isn't responsible for thousands of dead Americans.
but noo noo you conservatives are right, its totally wrong for anyone to hate the president. Since its entirely unpatriotic if you hate a man who rapes innocent iraqi citizens with guns and ammo.
I hate it when conservatives rant about things and try to have a justified argument, when they will never win. For now and until forever, conservatives because of George W Bush, will never win a moral/ethical argument.... ever.
