John Shadegg, Lonely Voice of Sanity
Kudos to Arizona Rep. John Shadegg for his resistance to Governor Janet "Nappy" Napolitano's attempt (similar to New Jersey's Jon Corzine's) to sneak socialized medicine in through the backdoor via the insidious SCHIP program.
SCHIP was ostensibly intended to provide medical insurance to impoverished children. Who could argue with that, without being tarred as a villain by the media? But it has another, higher purpose: as the Wall Street Journal put it, to impose "HillaryCare on the installment plan."
This is accomplished by expanding the program to kids who don't need it, and even to kids who aren't kids but rather childless adults. Governors have an incentive to get as many people onto the SCHIP gravy train as possible, because it brings federal money into their state.
To his immense credit, Shadegg is one of the few to put our country's overall interests ahead of a mad scramble for collective loot. As he said in a statement:
The bill has no cap on income for coverage, and it even rewards states that lift income caps. Both the House and Senate bills are a dramatic expansion of government-run health care. The governor should focus on making sure SCHIP funds are spent on what they were originally intended to be spent on: children in low-income families who don't have health care coverage.
Meanwhile, Shrillary strives to make the sneaky SCHIP strategy moot by dictating government-regulated healthcare for all. She wants proof of insurance to be a requirement for getting a job. Next will come the requirement to have 666 stamped on your forehead before you can buy or sell goods.
On a tip from Varla.

For the people who already pay for healthcare, Hillary is merely proposing that they pay for the healthcare of others. She is simply proposing a tax on producers.

This incorporates three classic examples of the socialised state-
1) Everyone is a policeman. The government forces business owners to police their employees (in this case with regard to their healthcare choices). The government penalises those who do not act as unpaid policeman (the businessman is punished). See also; the bar owner who is forced to police their customers alcohol intake or prevent them smoking on his supposedly private business premises; failure to do so lands the business owner in court, he loses his licence etc.
2) You don't decide who is the best person for the job, the State does that. You (the business owner) are forced to turn away a potentially good employee because of his personal lifestyle choices. We can expect to see businesses ordered, or influenced at least, not to employee people the State don't like (e.g. the obese or, again, smokers) regardless of whether they're the right person for the job. Businesses become not just policemen, but must also impose discrimination on behalf of the state). This is declared "positive".
3) Everyone is a child. Just like a kid who needs her vaccinations, the adult is not considered grown-up enough to make their own choices. The socialised citizen (subject, rather) is infantilised for their entire life.
