Hey Moron! Pull Your Pants Up!

Posted by Dave Blount at September 21, 2007 11:46 AM

Only one thing could be more idiotic than ordinances requiring morons to pull their pants up: some of the arguments against these ordinances.

Such a ban has just been proposed in Yonkers. But a similar one was rejected in Stratford, Connecticut, in part because it would promote the horror of racial profiling. Political correctness demands that we pretend all people are exactly the same, except that any behavior associated with blacks is sacrosanct.

But it gets worse:

During the discussion, city Police Officer Ken Davis said a decency law could increase conflict between officers and the community.
"Am I prepared to take it to another level if that person takes it to another level?" Davis asked.
Davis noted how some people in southwest Yonkers reacted angrily when officers got in a scuffle with a man who did not clean up after his dog on Hamilton Avenue. The family of Eric Brown accused police of brutality after Brown got in a scuffle Aug. 31 with officers who stopped him for that infraction.

In other words, some police don't want a ban against walking around with your pants around your knees because given the political climate, they would be afraid to enforce it.

The fact that these jerks with their pants falling off would be likely to give police trouble is the best argument in favor of the ban. Remember Rudy Giuliani's broken windows policy, which worked wonders to make New York City livable again by clamping down on minor infractions.

Unfortunately, Rudy is an aberration. Thanks to moonbattery, civilization on the whole is in retreat — reduced to squabbling over whether walking around with your underwear exposed is a civil rights issue.
