Free Phones For Hobos Maybe Not Such a Good Idea
A crank caller who often goes by "Nomar" has been tying up emergency services in Vallejo, California with nearly 2,000 fake calls, sending emergency crews on goose chases with claims that he has had a heart attack, seen an injury accident, attempted suicide, been robbed, etc.
The calls come from San Francisco, to which rampant moonbattery has attracted derelicts from all over the country and beyond. Nomar appears to be one of them. His phone has been traced back to a company in Oklahoma that donated old employee cell phones to homeless people.
Authorities can't track down Nomar through his service carrier because he doesn't have one. Any cell phone can call 9-1-1 whether the owner has paid for service or not.
The do-gooder cell phone donors must be very pleased to have given Nomar something to do with his time. But the only thing you can give to the homeless that accomplishes any good is work.

Just offer a $100 reward or its equivalent in Night Train to the first vagrant who narcs on NOMAR. One of his fellow bums will turn him in in a minute.

Never give Hobos anything. Charity is not the answer.

As I approached the bottom of the off ramp I saw a bum with his, "Will work for food. Help a vet." sign. I have a piece of property that is nearby that needs serious lawn cutting. I asked if he would mow the lawn for a Domino's pizza? He came right out and said he needed money to buy his own food. I then asked what branch he served in? He said the 82d Air Force Division! I told him it was, "...mow the lawn for pizza or nothing". He waved me off with a toothless grin.
