"Conservative" British Group Wants to Start Banning Appliances For Gaia

Posted by Dave Blount at September 10, 2007 11:59 AM

Global warming is highly unlikely to affect our standard of living — too bad the same can't be said for belief in global warming. As part of their campaign to pander to this politically correct hoax, Britain's alleged "conservatives" will propose banning appliances like plasma televisions on the grounds that they offend Gaia by using too much electricity.

The Quality of Life Policy Group, set up by Tory leader David Cameron, is also targeting refrigerators, freezers, personal computers, and DVD players for restrictions. Under the group's proposals, caps would be set on how much energy appliances can use; those that exceed the caps would be banned. This would include most plasma TVs.

The group also wants to stop using Gross Domestic Product as a measure of success in favor of "a model that measures people's happiness drawn up by Friends of the Earth."

In short, they are both authoritarians and kooks — just like Labour. It makes you wonder why people bother voting.

Soon to be banned in Britain?

On a tip from Wiggins.
