Canadians Feeling the Squeeze of State-Imposed Dhimmitude
Even some Canadian bureaucrats are getting fed up with the state-imposed dhimmitude that liberals call "multiculturalism." Another favorite progressive term is "reasonable accommodation," which since 9/11 has come to mean the suppression of our own culture in favor of Islam. From the Globe and Mail:
Christiane St-Laurent, an administrative assistant who works in one of the federal public-service buildings in Gatineau, listed several examples yesterday of how her office has become too politically correct.
Appearing on the second day of hearings at a Quebec commission on reasonable accommodation, Ms. St-Laurent said Quebec was right to build a secular society by removing all signs of Catholicism from public institutions such as hospitals and schools.
"The problem is that secularism is one-dimensional," she told the commission. "We took Catholicism out of our lives, but left all this room for all the other religions."
She listed several examples from her office, including a heated debate over whether she could decorate her cubicle for Christmas; how a Christmas party was renamed a "season's gathering" even though none of the employees expressed any concern; and the fact that a woman uses the only sink on her floor to wash her feet before daily prayers.
"Those sinks are the same that we might take our water from, that we might rinse our coffee cups from. So to me, it's shocking to wash your feet in the sink. I would hope people would be smart enough to say, 'It's a workplace. Faith and belief are a private matter and I will keep it to myself at home.' But apparently, it's not going both ways. People are expecting to arrive here and still live like they are in Baghdad."
Christiane shouldn't be surprised that the suppression of Christianity would inevitably leave us with something else in its stead.

But you don't understand -- Muslims are a protected minority. No others can claim such status, however, with the exception of criminal illegal aliens -- so a Muslim here illegally is twice blessed! Twice as many taxpayer-funded freebies!
Rather than cracking down on people who wish us harm, we've instead done everything in our power over the last six years to hand them North America on a silver platter. Wouldn't want to offend them, would we, while we bend our necks back to accept the blade? Heavens, NO! Wouldn't be politically correct.
Talk about slow-motion suicide!
