Brits Catching on to Environmentalism Scam
Just because Brits are succumbing to moonbattery doesn't mean they're stupid. According to a poll by YouGov, two thirds are aware that bureaucrats are exploiting the environmentalism fad as an excuse to expropriate more tax loot.
Studies back them up. One finds that the average British family is paying £400 more in special environmental taxes than it would cost to cover its alleged "carbon footprint." Green taxes raked in £21.9 billion in 2005; the supposed cost of carbon emissions that year was £11.7 billion.
Since the cost of carbon emissions is a fictional concept that experts pull out of their hats, if British bureaucrats are smart too they will make sure scientists understand that continued funding is contingent on revising theses costs upwards.
Another study finds that of all the money the British government expropriates in the name of Gaia, only 2% is given back in tax breaks. Targeted tax breaks would discourage pollution, but would also require bureauweenies to part with some of the money they so aggressively covet.
