Pandering to Gay Agenda Maybe Not Such a Great Idea
Apparently Dems either believe there is a huge contingent of undecided homosexual voters, or they think the moral decay that their party both represents and cynically exploits has reached critical mass in the population at large as it has in the media. Accuracy in Media's Cliff Kincaid comments on the "gay debate" televised on the gay TV channel Logo and moderated by gay or pro-gay journalists, at which the Dem candidates virtually crawled on the floor in their shameless pandering:
John Edwards insisted that he had not said that he was uncomfortable around gay people. And he thought it would be worthwhile to teach children about the reality of homosexuality. Senator Barack Obama claimed America's "founding documents" support gay rights, without citing any evidence for this view, while New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson was greeted with hostility for daring to suggest that homosexuality was a choice. He later backed away from that assertion.
Careful, Richardson — you wouldn't want anyone to think your head isn't screwed on backwards. In today's Democrat Party, stating the obvious can get you excommunicated. Just ask Joe Lieberman.
Needless to say, neither the opinions nor even the existence of former homosexuals was acknowledged at the forum, which pressured the candidates to champion the gay agenda. This features pressing for the sacrilege of gay "marriage," superior legal status for homosexuals under the guise of "hate crimes" legislation, permitting sodomy in the military, and of course, coercive government assistance in the ongoing campaign to cram homosexuality and the bizarre phenomenon of transsexuality down the public's throat.
Crusading for more gay privileges — I mean, "rights" — is sure to be a hit with the media. As Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth notes:
[T]hese days it's getting harder and harder to distinguish between the "gay"-cheerleading media and "gay" activists themselves.
It may be the trendily pro-gay media as much as homosexuals themselves that the Dems have been sucking up to. They forget that like gays, the liberal media will be on their side no matter what they do. The general population is another story.
Though most of the candidates are holding out on gay "marriage" so they can later try to pass themselves off as moderates, only the uninformed will buy it — and most of the rest will not be pleased. Kincaid quotes a new Quinnipiac poll:
among the roughly 40 percent who say it might have an impact on their decision, support of a gay rights group, depending on the state, turns off from two to almost four times as many voters as it attracts. On a net basis it makes more independents less likely to vote for such a candidate.
2008 may not be the train wreck moonbats have been dreaming of.
