Obama Alienates Key US Ally

Boy wonder Barack Obama doesn't have much government experience yet, but he's already managed to infuriate arguably our most crucial ally in the War on Terror.

Pakistan's Minister of State for Information correctly characterized as "sheer ignorance" Osama Obama's asinine suggestion that after surrendering to al-Qaeda in Iraq, he might invade Pakistan were the American public to prove moronic enough to put him in charge.

Key US ally Pervez Musharraf is hanging onto power in Pakistan by his fingernails. Al-Qaeda has been calling for a coup against him. Now a presidential candidate shows him the same kind of support Jimmy Carter offered the Shah of Iran with such disastrous consequences.

In the unlikely event there are Moonbattery readers who aren't better informed than Obama, it should be pointed out that Pakistan is a country of about 165 million, armed with nuclear weapons, whose air space we need to fly through to support our troops in Afghanistan. We need to stay on good terms. While pressure may need to be applied to ensure cooperation, there are more subtle ways of doing this that publicly threatening to invade, as a peacenik like Obama ought to know.
