More Evidence That Global Warming Is Replacing Religion
Marie Claire is so slick and shallow, you don't need to ask what its stand is on the global warming hoax. But NewsBusters tells us anyway, citing the September 2007 issue:
"Consult our quick guide to fuel-efficient cars, then cruise through the tollbooth at the pearly green gates," the tag line explained, nestled between a scale of "good" and "evil" signs.
According to the piece, if you drive a Toyota Prius Hybrid or a Honda Civic Hybrid, you are pious and your reward is "Dinner in heaven with Leonardo DiCaprio." […]
And to those who dare to drive a Hummer, Ford Explorer or Cadillac Escalade, Marie Claire said: "We'll see you in carbon-emissions hell."
Not all the punishments and rewards are otherworldly. Greenpeace will "slash your tires" if you drive fun cars like Mustangs or Jeep Wranglers, but you will get a "bear hug from Al Gore" for puttering around in a Civic or Corolla. (More like a ManBearPig hug, NewsBusters' Paul Detrick snickers.)
Someone needs to explain to the priests of political correctness that rewards are supposed to be good things.

I drive a Corolla. I think I may have to sell it quick before Algor finds out...

"According to the piece, if you drive a Toyota Prius Hybrid or a Honda Civic Hybrid"
Like hybrids are grown from trees and not manufactured from parts based on metals, chemicals, etc. extracted from Mother Gaia.

In the 1920s, Julien Benda wrote his magnum opus, The Treason of the Intellectuals, in which he catalogued the tendentiousness that had swept, by that time, across the intelligentsia of Europe. Traditionally, he noted, the great thinkers had constituted a permanent counterforce against the received wisdom of the era. But in the twentieth century, we witness the appearance of a self-styled intellectual elite that bands together for the opposite purpose: to propagate an ideological trend, to support and boost the political winds flowing across society at any given moment. Now fast forward to 2007. Could one imagine a more blatant display of Benda’s tendentious “intellectual” than the appearance of film director Davis Guggenheim alongside the Goracle at the Academy Awards ceremony? This, alas, is the stuff of Global Warming. It is the crown jewel of the forces of anti-reason.
