Jennifer Bell, Yet Another Casualty of Socialized Medicine
Jennifer Bell, a 22-year-old from Thorpe End, Norwich, complained to her doctor for eight months about her severe headaches, nausea, stiff neck, and diarrhea, only to be told that she suffered from stress. At long last the doctor/bureaucrat got tired of her complaints and referred her to a neurologist, who put her on the 13-week waiting list for a "relatively urgent" MRI.
Jennifer died of her undiagnosed brain tumor three days before the MRI was scheduled to take place.
Another triumph for socialized medicine: Jennifer Bell will never grow old enough to burden the system. Plus, the government saved the cost of the MRI, freeing more tax money to cover those costly administrative salaries.

You know, with all of this talk about universal health care in this country, does anyone thing the people in Washington will be taking advantage of it?
If they try pushing this through Congress, I'd like to see Republicans attach amendments that mandate that members of Congress and all other government employees have to use the system as well.
If it's good enough for us, then it's good enough for them.

"killer," here is to be taken literally, not to be confused with the leftish rhetoric of decades gone by, which meant while in a drug-induced stupor that which was imagined was considered while on drugs to be a "killer" idea.

I spent a few months in London a while back and I can tell you that everyone is scrambling to find "private" health insurance. Any respectable employee benefits package includes it. If you are not absolutely poverty-stricken, you are considered out of your mind if you voluntarily submit yourself to treatment at an NHS facility.

I heard a few months ago that the government of a Canadian provance was angry because it's citizens were crossing the border into the U.S. to get medical treatment.

Thanks Van. As you know, I am a fan of the conservative comments on your site but don't feel they have to be racially charged, I a non-white hold most of your editorial opinions. Although, I have been called such names before and am not that thin skinned, I don't think it adds to the topic discussed.
