Gideons Forbidden From Distributing Bibles at School
A federal appeals court on Tuesday upheld a lower court ruling that prohibited the distribution of Bibles to grade school students in a southern Missouri school district.
At issue was a long-held practice at South Iron Elementary School in Annapolis, 120 miles southwest of St. Louis, in which Gideons International representatives came to fifth-grade classrooms and gave away Bibles. A U.S. district judge issued a temporary injunction, and a three-judge panel of the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis agreed the classroom distribution should be prohibited. […]
The American Civil Liberties Union filed suit in February 2006 on behalf of four sets of parents, asking that the district be stopped "from further endorsement of religion."
They ought to be more specific. After all, there's nothing wrong with endorsing Islam. It's only Christianity that liberals want suppressed. The ACLU would hardly be likely to sue if CAIR came into a school to pass out Korans, any more than they complain about grade-school–level books that promote homosexuality.

The main reason Moonbats don't fight Islam is because they are working hand in hand (actually, just using each other) to destroy Judaeo-Christian/Western civilization. That's why the A.C.L.U. and Barry Lynn's "Separationists" look the other way when Islam is promoted in public schools and other government institutions.

Yes if this had been the Koran then the ACLU would be all-out defending the right to distribute for the sake of tolerance and understanding. The irony being that Muslims claim that Islam is just the extension of Judaism and Christianity, although such claims cannot withstand scrutiny of such a fallacious claim without being threatened with intolerant actions from Muslims.

The fact that the American Communist Liberties Union would vehemently defend a Muslim's right to hand out Korans at a school, all the while doing everything in their power to prohibit anyone from giving away a copy of the Bible in the same location, shows the utter moral bankruptcy of the ACLU. Like CAIR, the fact that anyone pays the slightest attention to a word they say (or words they spew) just illustrates the intellectual bankrupcy of many of this country's citizens -- it's that "gummint edjecashun" (or is that "leftist indoctrination"), don'cha know?

I'm surprised the schools even noticed the Gideons. School administrators in a lot of places are so busy installing foot-baths and such... you'd think you could sneak an occasional Bible in.
Is the penalty for smuggling a Bible into an American school harsher or more lenient than the penalty for Bible smuggling in Red China? Maybe the ACLU and NEA should set up some type of technical exchange program with the Chinese – between them they could probably figure out a way to all but eradicate that pesky book of Truth.

No, we don't want our kids to live by the absolute rules God has given us and we don't want them to be sullied by the underlying dictates that made our country what it is. It would be a shame if they formed a worldview based on the love the Bible teaches...much better to be our own god and to live the principle that there are many ways to God, which if true, makes Christ very wrong in giving His life to save us from our sins!
