Carter Helped Finance Takeover of White Farms in Zimbabwe
The erstwhile "Breadbasket of Africa," Zimbabwe, is now Africa's worst basket case, with an inflation rate of over 7,600% — a direct result of the communist policies of its dictator Robert Mugabe.
Mugabe ruined Zimbabwe's economy by stealing land from white farmers and handing it out to his associates, with the result that now the land lies unused while the people starve. Now we find out that fellow leftist Jimmy Carter helped finance this crime.
During a recession in the USA, Carter offered money earned by American taxpayers to buy Caucasians off their land. The payoffs stopped when it became clear that Mugabe was handing out the land to his cronies.
As even the left-leaning BBC admits:
The path to the seizure of white farms was opened and thus began the long slide to today's economic chaos.
More than a quarter century later, we still haven't finished assessing the damage caused by the Carter Administration.

Not to mention the white farmers murdered as a result of this "policy". And the many thousands of black Zimbabweans who've fled the country looking for work and trying to not starve to death.

One of Jimmy Carter's policies causing poverty and devastation in Africa? Gosh, I'm so surprised...he was one of our more stellar presidents! Say it ain't so!

During the Carter recession, Michigan had 20% unemployment. (We're down to 7 now, thanx to the enlightened tax policies of Governor Granholm the Canuck.) I had to travel 1300 miles and live on the charity of relatives while I took a $5.00 an hour job in Houston to feed my family. As far as I am concerned, Ronaldus Magnus saved the country.

VH, you said: "More than a quarter century later, we still haven't finished assessing the damage caused by the Carter Administration."
And it looks like we never will.

Paul's comments remind us all that no, not everyone in this country has a short memory. Thanks Paul. Too damned bad so many of your countrymen seem to be missing their gray matter when it comes to those years. I was a young teen at the time and even I recall the long lines at the pump and the financial fiasco.
