Profiles in Countermoonbattery: Prince Harry
With all the moonbattery exuded by Prince Charles lately, it's a relief to see that Prince Harry is anything but a chip off the old blockhead. He's been going through intensive training with the Gurkhas to hone his fighting skills.
Historically from the Himalayan mountains, Gurkhas have been recruited by the British Army for two centuries. Their courage, loyalty, and self-sufficiency are legendary.
Bureaucrats fret that Prince Harry will be a target if deployed to Iraq. But his greatest fear seems to be not being deployed:
There's no way I'm going to put myself through Sandhurst and then sit on my sorry arse back home while my boys are out fighting for their country.
Remember warrior kings? Maybe Britain has another in its future.

On a tip from The Panday.

Chuck Mountbatten is toast. He'll be King of England right after me. His only hope of not getting passed over was for his progeny to do their Kennedy impression, but alas, it's not to be.

Gotta love Harry!

Rumor has it Prince Chucklehead didn't sire this lad.
That would be lucky for Harry if true and might explain
his having some gonadal fortitude.

Sounds like the son of Reagan and Thatcher.
Don't cringe, he could be the only leader capable of pulling us through the Moonbat guano and Islamofascism. Churchill wasn't the Breck Girl, after all.

Unfortunately there's William to contend with. Now it might be interesting to see if there's anything to cause an abdication crisis that would put Harry on the throne, but I'm not sure what it could be...
Charles makes a lot of public pronouncements on things he doesn't know much about. That's a liability. Occasionally he makes public pronouncements on things he does know about, and those are teh few times he gets something right. Given his increasing leaning toward statemens like wanting to be "the defender of all faiths" and other crap, and the likelihood of him converting to some other religion, it's not likely he'll see the throne for very long. We're still constitutionally bound to place a protestant on the throne. Plus his marriage to Camilla essentially removes him from the running, government pronouncements not withstanding. He married her for love, and you can't fault that, but as a divorcee he's legally disqualified himself from the position of head of the church of england, and consequently the throne.
William is the wildcard. If Charles abdicates or is passed over, it'll be William who gets crowned. We don't know much about him, except that he's probably got more balls than his dad and might have inherited his mother's charming idiocy.

Theres a reason Harry isnt like the rest of the inbred members of the Royal family - his mother was Diana and his father was James Hewitt.
Why havent they called Maury Povich for a "Who's Your Daddy" special? "Prince Charles....You are....NOT THE FATHER !!!"

I thought those boys wore RED coats...
Posted by: Jimbo at July 10, 2007 5:09 AM
Nah, that's the Grenadiers and the coldstream guard, everyone else wears blue or deep blue-green dress uniform now. The red dress uniform was abandoned for most of the armed forces years ago.
Anonymous, there's no evidence that anyone other than Charles was the father, however the behaviour of this lad is really starting to make me wonder... and who could blame Diana?

Wise move with the red coats - they made such good targets!
;-)
As a Texan with predominately Welsh blood - I say give 'em hell, Harry!

To bad all the pansy College Republcians are not fighting?
How many Bush family men are in Iraq?
Posted by: G. at July 10, 2007 7:45 AM
Well that question can be turned right around. Why aren't you there, since you seem so concerned that other people be there?
Posted by: Archonix at July 10, 2007 8:07 AM
Archonix,
I thought going into Iraq in the first place was DUMB. Your people are the ones who pushed for it and blast anyone who points out how DUMB it was.
That's why.

Well, I guess I can't support the Jacksonville Jaguars, since I've never actually PLAYED for them. If I did, I'd be a ChickenJag.
Also, Queen Bee, you can't support the job your firefighters do because you're not the one running into burning buildings. Chickenfirefighter!
Also, Queen Bee, you can't respect the job your police officers do because you're not the one bringing the bad guys to justice. Chickencop!
Also, Queen Bee, you can't appreciate the job your garbage collectors do because you're not the one picking up the trash and slinging them into garbage trucks. Chickengarbagecollector!
We could do this all day long, Sugar. All you're doing is showing that you're devoid of thought and resorting to reflexive "feeling, not thinking" memes. A rather effeminite quality, I must say, for someone who purports to be more top than bottom.

G.
I was in the service in the mid-seventies. I got a wiff of a chemical leak, had influensa, an nasty reaction to some medicine and finally, medicly discharged. When the Iranian hostage f***-up happened, I asked for a change in status so I could re-inlist, but was refused. When the current war started, I looked into joining in a civilian job and volinteering for overseas duty, but there were no openings for my limited skills. I am now just shy of fifty and suffering from a bad leg.
Now what the hell have YOU done for your country?

If Conservative warmongers are such draft dodgers then I suppose the military is exclusively made up of leftwing peaceniks.
Or NOTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!

KHarn,
I appreciate your service. Most men in my family [the generation before me] served in the military.
Unfortunately I am gay and the military kicks gays out if they find out. I would not want to take that chance

Wrong. All the Guards Division wear red tunics, with the placement of buttons, by number, indicating divisions. Harry is a member of the Household Cavalry - the Blues and Royals - which wear blue tunics.
