Ninth Circus Closes Down Offshore Drilling
High gas prices couldn't be the fault of the excessive taxes, or by now it would have occurred to bureaucrats to lower them. So what is the cause? Big Oil's insistence on taking a few pennies profit on each gallon? Or could it be because moonbats won't let us drill for oil?
The infamous 9th Circus Court of Appeals has commanded Shell Oil to stop exploratory drilling off the north coast of Alaska, on the grounds that the Minerals Management Service approved the drilling without fully considering how beluga whales, polar bears, and other favored beasts would be affected in the highly unlikely event of a massive oil spill.
A hearing is planned for mid August in San Francisco to decided if Shell can go forward and provide us with some oil, after bidding $39 million for the offshore leases, and blowing who knows how much on court costs.
If not, no problem: we can just keep paying through the nose to buy oil from Arabs, who will spend the proceeds on madrasahs and weapons programs. Hopefully the polar bears and beluga whales will appreciate it.
On a tip from Byron.

How do these clowns get to their court? Rickshaw?

Maybe when the libs, like everyone else, are paying $25.00 per gallon for regular gasoline, they'll rethink their opposition to drilling in ANWR, offshore, et al.
But, more likely, they'll demand a $25.00 tax upon that gallon, in addition to its price, so the "poor, oppressed minorities and women" can receive assistance, via grants, in order that they can drive (and afford $50.00/gallone gas).
Maybe when it hits $100.00 a gallon . . .

The exploration was stopped because Natives felt that their subsistence lifestyle would be ruined. Natives must be preparing to abandon all motorized vessels and vehicles that they use for "subsistence" in the future, while returning to a time they might recall as "Fending for our lives like we did before the white man ruined everything!" Spears will replace firearms and there will be a huge comeback for sled-dogs and fur clothing. BTW that picture is of a production natural gas platform in Cook Inlet. You can Google Image for much better examples of how Native life was afforded the improved modern tools and living conditions they enjoy today. In Alaska, natives are in control of their lives in ways that make lower 48 Natives extremely jealous. While Alaska Natives have some problems, such as alcoholism, child abuse, and unemployment, many are able to live quite well due to free medical care, employment from and membership in Native corporations created for them after the pipeline was built. They receive corporate dividends and the Alaska Permanent Fund. On the North Slope, many Natives are rich, in-control, and nearly all enjoy every modern convenience. They deserve it, but sometimes you could cut the irony with a dull ulu.

Maybe the 9th Circus needs to be reintroduced to tar and feathers.

Yikes! Dejavu all over again. I've been on that platform (along with most of the 15 others in Cook Inlet).
In the background you see Mt. Spurr - last erruption 1992.
And - Articman - I got my share of permanent fund checks. In fact there was several times the cupboard would have been empty except for...

Anyone who supports this kind of nonsense should be BANNED from buying and using any type of fossil fuel or any power derived from fossil fuels. After all using such fuels is being a hypocrite.
