Jury Awards $6.2 Million For Being Black Lesbian

A Los Angeles jury has awarded female firefighter Brenda Lee $6.2 million because she was allegedly harassed for being a black lesbian.

Someone even peed in her mouthwash, or so she claims. Also, she was forced to perform "strenuous exercises" and subjected to the usual hearsay "derogatory comments."

Two other firefighters climbed aboard the gravy train by claiming the LAFD oppressed them for siding with Lee. The two were awarded $1.7 million and $350,000. What the hell, the taxpayers have more money where that came from.

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway: our legal system is insane.

Comments

Would the "strenuous exercises" involve things like dragging hoses through confined spaces or carrying human sized weights down stairs and ladders? Did she know just what her job description was when she joined the fire department?

If you are harrased and your mouthwashed peed into because you are a white, heterosexual, male - I will support you and so will other gay people.

This is about racial and sexual orientation discrimmination - the only reason you don't like this decision is b/c there is nothing in it for you.

If white, heterosexuals males were being harrasesed b/c of their race, sex, and sexual orientation - I bet you would singing a different tune.

Your arguments are transparent.

You do realise that means that gays would be giving up the SPECIAL status that Liberals have worked so long and hard to achieve for them. You do realiese that Liberals MUST enforce that special status for gays or else they would not be able to keep their power and feel good about themselves.
No, I guess that you don't.

KHarn,

Laws against discrimmination based on sexual orientation apply to straights and gays - same with race.

It just so happens that straight people are usually not discrimminated against b/c of their sexual orientation - if they are - those laws cover them as well.

I bet if straights were routinely discrimminated against b/c of their sexual orientation you would be singing a different tune.

Special status - no. These laws apply to EVERYONE.

That's the way it's SUPPOSED to work.

Okay, I've read G's comments over and over, and can't understand if he's now convinced himself he was wrong, or what...

G, you DO understand, don't you, that equal treatment under the law is a REPUBLICAN creed, not a democrat creed? Are you converting? Or just stupid?

NudeGayWhalesForJesus,

You say it's a Republican creed but clearly it is not - it is the Democrats that are responsible for passing such legislation.
That is my point.

Republican are supposed to stand for many things but sadly their actions frequently contradict their words.

Do yourself a favor and hold youR party's leaders accountable!!!

What you want is preferential treatment for homosexuals. The job of a firefighter is tough and more importantly they endanger their lives as well as the lives of others if they cant perform the work.

Keep politics out of it. Lets concentrate on saving lives not giving special interest groups preferencial treatment among emergency workers.

If not being fired simply b/c you have an homosexual sexual orientation - than call it what you want.

Its special rights for heterosexuals too - b/c if they are fired b/c they're straight then they can sue too. Its anti-discrimmination based on sexual orientation.
