Greenies Mad at Madonna
Prominently featured at the Goracle's Live Earth flop was Madonna, who can be counted on to hop aboard liberal bandwagons, but who is about as environmentally conscious as her lyrics are intellectually profound.
Her Ray of Light Foundation annoys the environmentally pious by owning shares in companies like Alcoa, Ford, and Weyerhaeuser, all of which have been accused of putting human interests ahead of those of the Earth Mother.
Live Earth producer Kevin Wall comes to her rescue:
I know that her commitment to this cause runs deep. She is performing for free and has written a new song for us, which I think goes to show that.
But while Madonna chides us to stop using energy, her own royal lifestyle produces even more carbon than Al Gore's. She owns nine homes and six cars (including two gas hog Range Rovers), and flies by private jet. She has been estimated to produce 1,018,372kg of CO2 each year; the average Briton produces about 10,000 kg.
Sure she's committed: to self-promotion and self-indulgence, like most pop stars — and like the Goracle himself.

On a tip from Wiggins.

Lets's see:
Madonna is worth hundreds of millions of dollars - check
She is self made - check
She creates jobs, through her own hard work and efforts, for many other people - check.
She is independent minded and intelligent - check.
Right wingers find fault with everything.

I realize that this seems trivial, even as I type it, but, "She has been estimated to produce 1,018,372kg of CO2 each year" is just nuts. It might be near the correct number, but Ms Caulfield needs some schooling on sig-figs. A 7-digit estimate, covering a year of daily activity, shouldn't be that precise. "Over a million kgs of CO2?" Yeah, that would be fine. That 372 kilos is just ridiculous, though.

Madonna - a super over-achiever who has still not slowed down - got to respect and admire that!

Her music has produced greenhouse gasses for years.

She is self made - WRONG
She was and is handled by Big Music Machinery.
She is independent minded and intelligent - WRONG
She is a Kool Aid drinker and a follower.
She creates jobs, through her own hard work and efforts, for many other people - WRONG
Big Music Machinery created HER job and all the other jobs you refer to, not that 45 year old meat bag waste of skin.

G, even if all the stuff you said about Madonna was true, do you think that means no one can disagree with her? No one can question what she is doing? Or maybe I can be allowed to verbally disagree with her as long as Van Helsing let's her post disagreement with me ala the fairness doctrine?

No, Darth, Madonna is an icon in the gay community, so anything you say that is bad about her is sacrilege.

Its funny how liberals rail against the rich while so many of them are rich themselves. When liberals engage in wretched excess its well deserved, when anyone else does it evil and killing the planet.
If liberal Democrats believe they need to be taxes more then do it - anyone who is a registered Democrats gets a tax increase. Its time they put their money where their mouth is.

I've heard Madonna interviewed. She may be a genius at self-promotion, but when she talks, she sounds as dumb as a Carter foreign policy speech.

Too bad Madonna wasnt nailed to that cross. She is into S&M so she would probably enjoy getting "nailed".

Madonna is a smug, self-righteous publicity genius who talks about kabala and global warming, but is actually a middle aged woman prancing around a stage in black spandex like some Grease tribute act, dry-humping stage props and surrounded by metrosexual multi-cultural bodybuilders making herky-jerky movements to the same four-on-the-floor beat she's been regurgitating since 1985. Madonna is simultaneously a leading critic of American decadance and cultural decline, and yet the person who has probably done more to debase the culture and promote decadance than any other entertainer alive, or for that matter, any other person alive. When she is 70, she will be grinding her reproductive organs into various stage props for camera close-ups, and will still be lecturing us on our debased, trivial, materialistic culture. She is, in short, a case study in the narcissistic irrelevance of the Celebrity Left. She used to have shock value, but after she herself helped drive the threshhold of shock value to levels that cannot be exceeded without the use of farm animals and midgets, there is nothing left to Madonna but an irony so huge you have to believe even she knows it.

'G',
Nice attempt at a straw man argument.
Nobody is assailing her for making a living- but if you think her hypocrisy is beyond assail, you're more of a dolt than you so glaringly appear.
As was said recently (I believe by The Puppy Blender) "As soon as the people telling me we're in a huge crisis start behaving as though we're in a huge crisis, I'll start behaving as though we're in a huge crisis.".
