Honestly...I'm not that worried. Once these officers get out into the field, the hands-on training will overtake the liberal-mandated garbage they had to endure during "orientation" (read:indoctrination).

It's a fact of history that Malcom X preached hate and violence against anyone who was not "black" UNTILL he went to Mecca. There he saw whites, blacks, Orrientals and Arabs whorshiping side by side and it was then that X realised that he was WRONG and people CAN get along, or at least pretned not to HATE each other! When Malcom X came home he started talking about this "strange new idea" and his followers SHOT HIM!

And yeah, thanks for noticing Mr. Butts, Muslims do come in many different colors (ever heard of ethnic Albanian--i.e. European--Muslims? Remember the green-eyed Pashtun Muslim girl featured in National Geographic?). However, he may be interested in the following quote from this article describing one guy's experiences in MUSLIM Saudi Arabia

About 20 years ago as an NYPD officer, we were subjected to "in service training" lectures with guests "from the community" preaching their version of police-community relations. One such guest was ... Al Sharpton ... before he became well known nationally. To those in law enforcement locally - he was far from a stranger.

The day Sharpton was introduced as guest lecturer, myself and 3 or 4 other older officers got up and walked out - refusing to even listen to the race whore. Sure - we were threatened with insubordination by a boss from community affairs, but we all laughed and told him to stick it where the sun don't shine. Saddled up and went on patrol to do our jobs.

What can we expect from a department that recruits street punks in the worst neighborhoods of the city? Punks we locked up were being recruited a week later by other minority officers from the recruitment section! And then because they were city residents - they got hiring preference over qualified applicants from outside the city! Then the morons running the department wondered why corruption complaints were going crazy?

Lovely to see the NYPD hasn't learned a damned thing in the intervening years, and so glad I retired 12 years ago after 25 years of BS.

Thanks for the first-hand testimony, Bruce. It seems that some P.D.s in the country are more concerned with brown-nosing the local business agent (too many of whom are Left-wing opportunists), job security, promotions, pensions, etc. than with enforcing the law. I'm from the So. Ca. area, and the lawyers and judges- along with self-serving "higher-up" police officers- have darn near made effective police work a thing of the past.

Toa: Not unlike the present crop of bureau-weenie pencil-pushers in the military (with a very few exceptions) who refuse to permit our troops (you know, the ones with their asses literally on the line) to fight a war, instead imposing a plethora of stupid "rules of engagement" on them (like, make sure they shoot at you first, before you take out an obvious jihadist target; wouldn't want to make anybody mad at us, would we?). That's the main (but not the only) reason this thing has draggggggggged out for more than four years, when it could have been over in two, with the elections held, the new constitution ratified and in effect, and the situation in the streets essentially quiet.

We sent 'em over there to kill these scum; turn 'em loose, for God's sake! Our enemies should be scared sh--less; instead, they're laughing their asses off at every new idiocy we come up with to stop our guys from killing them.

That's why I take no comfort from watching these History Channel/A&E specials on the latest technology in forensics, weaponry, military developments, police tactics, etc.. You can have the best equipment on Earth with which to do your job, but with people such as you described in the moving-and-shaking positions, WE LOSE!!!!! It's enough of a tragedy with our Cops in this predicament, but a Military at war????? It applied in Vietnam, and it applies now! Oh, and I think it's worth a mention: it's been said "at least the V.C. and N.V.A. didn't want to follow us home, as do the Terrorists". Well, the only reason they didn't is because "they" were already here; they had us well infiltrated with their dupes and stooges...in fact, a goodly percentage of them went into Education, Law, Journalism and Government. And they have put us in a whole lot more danger than we've ever been in before...
