Profiles in Countermoonbattery: Samuel Toloza

With all the knives being stuck in our troops' backs by the media and Congressional Democrats, it's nice to know that some of the troops fighting Islamic terrorists in Iraq know how to use knives too. Of course, they use them very differently:

NAJAF, Iraq — One of his friends was dead, 12 others lay wounded and the four soldiers still left standing were surrounded and out of ammunition. So Salvadoran Cpl. Samuel Toloza said a prayer, whipped out his knife and charged the Iraqi gunmen.
In one of the only known instances of hand-to-hand combat in the Iraq conflict, Cpl. Toloza stabbed several attackers swarming around a comrade. The stunned assailants backed away momentarily, just as a relief column came to the unit's rescue.

"We never considered surrender," Said Toloza. "I was trained to fight until the end." Why can't we have people of this caliber as our Senate Majority Leader or Speaker of the House?

Hey wait — this guy's from El Salvador. According to the Dems and the MSM, only America advocates democracy in Iraq, with the rest of the world on the side of the terrorists. So you probably won't be hearing about Toloza on the evening news.

Wait a minute? He's from El Salvador? But I thought the US was all alone in Iraq because Bush was a unilateralist?

I'm amazed he hasn't yet been brought up on charges (having the audacity to defend himself and his comrades), considering the weenies who run some of the armed services and the Department of Defense, far more concerned over political correctness than anything approaching actual victory in a war.

It's amazing as well that this story ever saw the light of day (had Cpl. Toloza been killed, along with all of his mates, that would have led the evening "news").

Bravo to Cpl. Toloza (who should by now be Sgt. Toloza, if his superior officers have any gonads)!

It can never be said enough:
"THANK YOU CPL. TOLOZA AND GOD BLESS YOU"!
I can only hope that if faced with even a quarter of a situation like that, I would respond with half of the bravery of Cpl. Toloza.

Best of luck on your mission and wishing you a safe return.

A good example of a LEGAL immigrant.

Hat's off to you, Sammy!

Small wonder people like Harry Ried and Jack Murtha despise men like Samuel Toloza...he is worth a dozen of any one of their kind.

God Bless Our Troops!!!!!

Jolly Good! Great commercial for Buck Knives.

Go Amigo and welcome to America.

" Phil Kosnett, who leads the Coalition Provisional Authority office in this holy Shi'ite city..."

"Holy Shi'ite," that makes me laugh every time I see it. :)

Bergbikr, I thought that knife looked a lot like a Buck 110, but the bolster on Cpl. Toloza's knife shows the pivot pin, whereas the Buck bolster is polished smooth. Also, the grind line on Cpl. Toloza's knife comes up to meet the clip point, while on a 110, the grind line bevel and the clip point meet at the point. I'd like to know what it is, though.

That story is from 2004, VH. I don't remember it at all.
