One Thing Going For Al Franken: Money

Why would the obnoxious left-wing comedian Al Franken think he has a snowball's chance in hell of defeating Norm Coleman for a Senate seat? Maybe because, like most prominent leftists, Franken has something Coleman doesn't — mountains of money.

Although he won't be any more specific than he's forced to be, Franken admits to having a net worth of as much as $9.9 million. The clown profession can pay quite well, especially when you invest in mutual funds and municipal bonds.

For his part, Coleman voluntary provided the exact market value of his assets, which comes to a little over half a million. But Coleman has the advantages of being qualified for the job, and of not being a kook.

If Franken ever runs out of cash, he knows where to get more (via iHillary).

On a tip from Wiggins.

Hollywood nitwits are nothing but highly paid court jesters...I prefer the term "overpaid", but that's just me. If Franken is successful in bamboozeling the Minny voters into putting him in office, they'll deserve the ridicule we'll heep on them.

Ronald Reagan, Sonny Bono, Arnold Schwarzenegger,Clint Eastwood....All insanely wealthy Republican politicians..

You don't seem to ridicule THEIR "hollywood" bakgrounds.

And since when do wingnuts complain about rich people running for office. You know as well as anyone that elections are always won by the candidate willing to pay the most for it.Jeez, do you have any idea how much money Dick Cheney has? 9.9 million? that's what he's making a year from his Halliburton/Iraq cash cow operation he's been running for four years now. Do you have any idea how much money the Bushes have? 9.9 mil? Give me a break! Condoleeza Rice is worth more than that.

Westerberg, who gives a damn about the money? It's the moonbattery we have a problem with. Al Franken is a loathsome turd-brain and to be in a position to inflict his George Soros-dictated, socialist idiocy on other Americans is scary....but they will get what they deserve if they vote him into office.

What the Lefties keep forgetting is that Ronald Reagan was the GOVENOR OF CALIFORNIA for many years before he was President. As for the others, I never heard praise from conservatives about them, so your point is moot.

FDR was a millionaire.
Thomas Jefferson was a millionaire.
JFK was a millionaire.
Andrew Jackson was a multi-millionaire.
James Madison was a millionaire.
George Washington was a millionaire.
Got a problem with them? Of course you do, westerberg; They were CONSERVATIVE PATRIOTS who LOVED America, we can't have mnen like THAT in the White House, can we?

PS: While Roosevelt's policies seemed radical at the time, he was NOT a leftie or a socialist! Besides, Liberalism with a capital "L" was not invented untill the mid 1960s to ease GUILTY FEELINGS bout RACE RELATIONS, after which it was quickly taken over by the American Communist Party as a sub-group.

wow KHam you really needed to get that off your chest, huh?

Look, I'm not the one who started the attack on wealthy politicians...The post was focused on Al Franken's money. Give the blogger a hard time for attacking a wealthy candidate, not me.

As for Reagan, yeah, but before he was Governor he was a second rate Hollywood "nitwit". Only later did he get to buy his biggest role as Presidential nitwit....You gotta start somewhere...Gotta save up---

Posted by: westerberg at May 23, 2007 2:59 PM

Oh, and now you wingnuts want to claim JFK as a Conservative!!??!? Half of the others on that list's "conservatism" could also be debated.

Hey asshat, unbelivably not every "patriot" has been "conservative"...Do some research before you spew your thoughtless comments. (and hit that post button over and over and over)

There was a glitch in the posting. It wouldn't show up, so I tried again and again.

Reagan was a "nitwit", huh? No examples, just accusations. Typical Liberal.

Yes, JFK was conservative. I said "conservative" NOT "A Conservative", there is a diffrence just as there is a diffrence between being "liberal" and being "a Liberal" (The latter is a POLITICAL alliance). Look again ASSHAT, I said that those men were "conservative patriots", I did NOT say that they were "Conservatives". But compared to the present-day politics, they ARE "Conservatives". Roosevelt, for instance, would be tarred and feathered by "Democrats" if her were president today.

Like Rosie O'Donnell, Al Franken is a comedian who is no longer funny.

Posted by: James F McEnanly at May 23, 2007 4:06 PM

Yeah, whoever's got the most money wins. That's why down-home, grass-roots Americans Al Gore and John Kerry lost when they ran for President.

Posted by: Toa at May 23, 2007 4:31 PM

Let's use Reagan's entire presidency as the "example". Billions of dollars of debt, Iran/Contra...Funding Saddam's regime, as well as providing funds and weapons to Iranians....I could go on....Reagan helped support two "terrorist" regimes in Iraq and Iran, as well as others in Central America.

Reagan was a buttwipe, and an intellectual midget. Typical republican flag waving, empty headed nitwit.

Gore and Kerry were both outspent by the Bush regime. Not that those guys aren't rich nitwits as well. Heck, I don't like the Dems as much as you. It's just your average Repugnantican is much worse.

As an Anarchist punker in the 80s I hated Reagan but I have warmed up to him a little bit these days, but it is undeniable that his presidency turned the country around from the economic malaise of the seventies.

It is rare that someone says that Reagan wasnt a good president and that the country did well under his administration. Even many Democrats admit this.
