Dems Divert Intelligence Resources to Global Warming Malarkey
Defending us from terrorists and keeping an eye on hostile dictators are Republican priorities. Dems have more important tasks for the CIA — like manufacturing propaganda to prop up the global warming hoax.
The House just passed a defense authorization bill that compels the "intelligence czar" to spend the next nine months analyzing the "anticipated geopolitical effects of climate change and the implications of such effects on the national security of the United States."
The study of the imaginary global warming crisis was mandated by the new Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Silvestre Reyes (D-TX), who is so profoundly ignorant of the urgent priorities faced by the intelligence community, he thinks al-Qaeda is Shiite. Rather than having the CIA connect dots to forestall future 9/11s, he will devote the agency to fabricating science fiction scenarios suitable for an Al Gore schlockumentary.
Reyes, who thinks terrorists might be able to cause global warming, is carrying on the grand tradition of the Clinton Administration, which diverted precious resources to a new Central Intelligence Environmental Center. There spies studied volcanoes, fish migrations, ice caps, etc., while al-Qaeda laid the groundwork for 9/11.
One favorite excuse for wasting the CIA's time on the Dems' climate change hobbyhorse is that if the climate really were to change drastically, it might turn the Middle East and Africa into breeding grounds for terrorists — which they have already been for decades. As Bob Barr puts it:
Perhaps it will take another multimillion-dollar study and countless wasted hours by dozens of high-paid analysts for the CIA to realize that the Marine barracks in Beirut was not bombed because of a drought, that the warlords in Somalia did not decide to murder and desecrate the bodies of American Army personnel because they weren't getting enough rain, and that the terrorists on Sept. 11 did not kill thousands of Americans because they were upset with our country's unenthusiastic response to allegations of global warming.
Unfortunately, while the Democrats in Congress are busy greening the CIA, our real, human adversaries are out there plotting against us. The weather will be the least of our worries.
It seems we are going to have to learn the hard way how critical it is that the country be run by grownups.

How about a study on how cutting CO2 emissions will affect our economy and our ability to defend our country?

Wouldn't it be more efficient to study how the terrorist might use the anti-war protesters as a stalking horse to reconoiter and attack assets at home and abroad?

I have already seen a few articles hinting that global warming is responsible for the Darfur genocide. I think some people are so consumed with this that they honestly think global warming is the key to understanding everything, even national security. BTW, here is a list of scientists who initially believed that global warming was man-made but then CHANGED their minds when they examined the evidence: Global Warming Apostates (scroll down to see the full list)
I think apostate is the right word, because this whole thing seems very much like a religion.
