Dems Demand US Taxpayers Pay Reparations on Behalf of Imperial Japanese
In an appalling example of the sort of lunacy we're in for as Democrats tighten their grip on our government, a Dem bill before Congress (H.R. 1595) is calling on American taxpayers to shell out reparations to the citizens of Guam — for what was done to them by the Imperial Japanese, from whom we rescued them at the cost of many American lives.
Victims of Japanese atrocities and their survivors are to be handed up to $25,000 apiece of our money, courtesy of the noble Robin Hoods of the Democrat Party.
Next, Dems might move on to handing the loot they steal from us to descendants of anyone killed by the Austro-Hungarian Empire during WWI.

They are not modeling Robin Hood. He stole from the government (not the rich) and gave to the over-taxed and over-restricted poor. As with so many other themes, the dems have co-opted a hero of truth and justice as the badge of their plunder.

As a U.S. Citizen of Guam, and in light that most of all people don't recall the Spanish American War. I forgive the almost twisted comments on this page. You have not talked to the survivors or seen the places. You do not know that "our" United States Government Forgave Japan for all crimes of the war as part of Japans Surrender. This is not an argument of price; no one can put a price on patriotism or freedom, this is not a waste, this is justice. 2200 American citizens died on Guam during WWII, these weren't Soldiers, these were the native people of Guam, kept in inhumane concentration camps. If money was the issue, then lets take all the compensation money from the people we have given...given by republican and democrats

American POWs also cannot sue the Japanese for compensation because of the WWII treaty. Why aren't the Dems trying to pass a bill for them to be given $$ in compensation for having been used as slave labor? Vets accepted it, bitterly, but they did. American spent blood and treasure to help free Guam from Japanese hold during WWII as well as other U.S. territories in the Pacific. What a slap in the face to now want more.
Please explain what the Spanish American War has to do with this? Spain signed Guam over to the U.S. as a result of that war. Had they not Guam would probably have been a territory of Spain during WWII. Are you saying that *that* would have prevented the Japanese from invading Guam? I doubt that even if Spain was neutral in WWII.

There were plans to fortify Guam durring the 1920s since we were going to abandon the Phillipines in 1945.
HOWEVER...
We signed a non-military rpoliferation treaty with Japan, promasing NOT to build up our island bases further west than the Hawaiian Islands. By the time we discovered that Japan was stelthaly violating the treaty in the thirties, it was too late to fortify Guam. (See what "being nice" and "playing fair" gets you?)
The single comapany of U.S. Marines and the 200+ "Native Constabulary" fought bravely for hours after enduring two days of bombing, but there was nothing they could do to stop over a thousand well-armed and supported veteran solders.
If any reperations are due, JAPAN should pay, America had already paid our debt IN BLOOD when we returned. Would you rather we had let Japan KEEP your land?
