Moonbats Oppose Statue of Fallen Hero Danny Dietz
Navy SEAL hero Danny Dietz laid down his life for us in the allegedly nonexistent Global War on Terror on June 28, 2005, during an attack by Taliban and al-Qaeda forces in Afghanistan. His citation for the Navy Cross he was awarded:
For extraordinary heroism in actions against the enemy while serving in a four-man Special Reconnaissance element with SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team ONE, Naval Special Warfare Task unit, Afghanistan from 27 to 28 June 2005. Petty Officer Dietz demonstrated extraordinary heroism in the face of grave danger in the vicinity of Asadabad, Konar Province, Afghanistan. Operating in the middle of an enemy-controlled area, in extremely rugged terrain, his Special Reconnaissance element was tasked with locating a high-level Anti-Coalition Militia leader, in support of a follow-on direct action mission to disrupt enemy activity. On 28 June 2005, the element was spotted by Anti-Coalition Militia sympathizers, who immediately revealed their position to the militia fighters. As a result, the element directly encountered the enemy. Demonstrating exceptional resolve and fully understanding the gravity of the situation and his responsibility to his teammates, Petty Officer Dietz fought valiantly against the numerically superior and positionally advantaged enemy force. Remaining behind in a hailstorm of enemy fire, Petty Officer Dietz was wounded by enemy fire. Despite his injuries, he bravely fought on, valiantly defending his teammates and himself in a harrowing gunfight, until he was mortally wounded. By his undaunted courage in the face of heavy enemy fire, and absolute devotion to his teammates, Petty Officer Dietz will long be remembered for the role he played in the Global War on Terrorism. Petty Officer Dietz' courageous and selfless heroism, exceptional professional skill, and utmost devotion to duty reflected great credit upon him and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service. He gallantly gave his life for the cause of freedom.
Understandably, those who appreciate Dietz' sacrifice want to honor him with a privately financed statue in his hometown, Littleton, Colorado. The planned statue is based on the last picture taken of Dietz before he died fighting terrorists:

It will stand in Berry Park, a few blocks away from the home in which he grew up and not far from the elementary schools Dietz attended, serving as an inspiration for children. Says Dan Dietz, Sr.:
I want them to believe in their country. I think there should be more of this for our heroes who have lost their life.
Moonbats, naturally, are appalled. They object on the grounds that showing a hero with a weapon glorifies violence. Squeals "peacenik" Ann Levy of Denver:
They should be putting up a peace dove instead. The question is do we stand for peace or do we stand for war?
A better question would be: Are we worthy of the sacrifices of people like Danny Dietz?
Apparently Littleton is. Plans to erect the statue are moving forward, moonbattery be damned. Scheduled unveiling is July 4.

Leftist vermin are unfit to lick the boots of people like Petty Officer Dietz. My sincere condolences to his family. The Republic won't be lost as long as we have folks like the Dietz family in our ranks.

Unlike most readers at this blog I am for gun control.
However, the leftwing obession with destroying militarism is thoughtless. Lets say that they are successful and the Western World becomes pacifists.
Although that scenario is more than unlikely, if it is successful then what? How will they convince North Korea, Syria, Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Islamic Jihad, the Taliban, Al Qaeda and the Baathists to disarm and demilitarize?
These are totalitarian militants who sometimes welcome western activists into their territory for propaganda purposes, but do not allow similar activism among their own people.
There is reality and then there is fantasy. In Nazi Germany the peace activists of the White Rose Movement found that out first hand.

I wonder if Ann Levy would object to a statue of Marxist Mass Murderer Che Guevara or Leftist Cop-Killer Mumia al-Jamal.
I'm guessing she wouldn't.

Hey Ann Levy.....SUCK IT BITCH! How's that for Free Speech Ms. Levy? You get to say what you want, so do we. Why can't you realize that weapons are tools used to prevent the enemy (IslamoFascists) from killing us and putting your Moonbat arse in a Burka? The only thing coming out of your yap should be a big thanks to Petty Officer Dietz. You wanna put a Peace Dove up instead? How about putting a "Peace Dove" up your Moonbat arse? Fascists will always win a war against Pacifists because the Fascists will kill the Pacifists. That's because the Pacifists will let them. I will not let the Pacifists help The Fascists kill us.

The Republic may be safe so long as we have the likes of Petty Officer Dietz in our ranks, but moonbattery is a cancer that continues to spread in which my brothers in arms, like Dietz, are belittled even in their gloried passing from this world in defense of their nation.
Semper Fi, brother. Next time I'm in Colorado I will visit you.

I agree, Saddened Marine. Sometimes I have to pinch myself and ask, in all sincerity, whether or not I'm still living in America. But I don't know how to eradicate the cancer, beyond trying to reason with the radicals. But even patient Reason may eventually be taxed beyond endurance, and then what? I'm starting to actually fear I may live to see another Civil war in this country. Am I nuts? Paranoid? In the face of the cancer it becomes increasingly difficult for me to decide. I can tell you I am beyod Troubled, and very nearly Alarmed at the things I see unfolding. Who was it who said "No matter how cynical I become, I can't keep up"?
Don't forget, though, that there are still plenty of patriotic Americans who will appreciate the magnitude of this fine soldiers' sacrifice, and pay it the respect it deserves. They're the same ones who would say, "Thank you, Saddened Marine, for serving and defending this great nation." It looks grim, but the fight ain't over just yet.

They should be putting up a peace dove instead. The question is do we stand for peace or do we stand for war?"
And a "peace dove" would honor Danny Dietz how?
I guess a young boy seeing that statue and thinking he wants to be like Dietz and serve his country is a bad thing. Leftists have no clue what patriotism, honor, and duty are. To them, patriotism is denouncing your own government, honor is spitting on solders and throwing crap into recruiting stations, and duty is undermining national security.
Ann Levy would probably be ecstatic if the boy decided that he wanted to put on a dress and perform in gay nightclubs. And in honor of that perversity, read here.

"The question is do we stand for peace or do we stand for war?"
She's got it all mixed up. We can't stand for peace if we don't defend ourselves from criminals and tyrants. To let criminals and tyrants rule is the exact opposite of peace. One of my favorite Limbaughism's puts this idea in a nutshell:
"The opposite of peace isn't war, the opposite of peace is tyranny."

Here in the Fremont neighborhood in the Peoples Republic of Seattle proudly stands a statue of Vladimir Illyich Lenin. Nobody ever protested it. God what’s happened to this country?

Leftists seem to think the way to achieve peace is to simply stop fighting.
But unless every person on earth followed suit, and continued to follow suit forever, then the first tyrant to pick up a gun would have a pretty easy time of it.
The Jews in WWII should have just stopped fighting, then the peaceful Nazis wouldn't have been forced to kill them.
"The past isn't something we need to learn from. It's something we need to constantly revise." - leftwing creed.
"In any conflict, the unarmed side will become the victim, the armed side will become the victor". - common sense creed.
