First Registration, Then Confiscation
Chicago's intrusive firearms registration requirements are being applied toward their intended use: disarming citizens.
Illinois State Police troopers have been going door to door, confiscating legally registered guns because owners forgot to jump through deliberately onerous re-regulation hoops. A taskforce called the Chicago Anti Gun Enforcement (CAGE) unit has been working with other police agencies to disarm the Chicago populace. Its target is not criminal gunrunners, but law-abiding citizens who can be disarmed using loopholes and technicalities. Those who have allowed their Nazi-esque Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) cards to expire will be tracked down by bureaucrats and have their guns confiscated by the State.
Bad enough that Illinois has managed to inflict Hillary Clinton, Dick Durbin, and Barack Hussein Obama on the rest of the country. Let's hope it doesn't do the same with its apparent contempt for the Second Amendment.
On a tip from V the K.

As noted, Pennsylvania is looking to put the same onerous regs on law-abiding gun-owners. The libs have found a backdoor to carry out their gun-confiscation agenda.

Any law that allows for the confiscation of private property has to be fought. The underlying premise is that property rights are a privilege granted by the state. Without property rights there are no rights, and so, in a free country, the state upholds and protects property rights. These people aren't just destroying the right to bear arms and the right to self defense, they are destroying something that is even more fundamental to liberty and civilization; the precedent can only help to undermine and destroy individual rights.

We are watching what is rapidly becoming the USSA. The United Socialist States of America. And the states like Illinois wonder why people are moving out and going to states that permit self defense. Texas just enacted new laws that consider self defence to be anywhere your person is, not just your home, but you car, your office, your place of business. Any threat to your person allows self defense.
Do I see a bunch of yankees packing their bags?

Historically, gun control/confiscation has always been a precedent for Totalitarians to move forward with other "programs" which they know that the general populace will just not like too well (to put it nicely). As the bumper sticker says, these "Liberals" just LOOOOVE unarmed peasants.

I have no doubt that Dick’ Turban’s’ fingerprints are all over this latest attach on the Constitution. If you’ve watched him in the Senate long enough, there can be no doubt of it. He believes that the Constitution should be considered a “living document” that can be re-interpreted as the occasion arises.

Anyone wanna take bets how long it will be before some of the members of this task force come under fire from pissed off civilians refusing to yield their 2nd Amendment rights?

So now I MUST get my weaponry under the table?
So be it.

The "police state" we conservatives used to metaphorically fear is a reality...damnation!!!
I agree with Toa, get your gun illegally from now on. If you abide by the registration laws, at some point the State will find a way to take it from you.

you can buy your guns legally, grind the numbers off them and report them stolen - realistically (and sadly) that gun really doesn't exist anymore.

p.s. forgive me, Lord.

Sen Lautenberg is trying something on the Federal side to deny people their rights.
Even blogged on how bad it is: http://annapuna.blogspot.com/2007/04/sounds-nice-but.html#links
Then promptly went to a rifle range to enjoy my 2nd Amendment rights before they get confiscated.
