Edwards Family Forced to Share Neighborhood With Normal American

Elizabeth Edwards is appalled by the existence of Monty Johnson, a "rabid, rabid Republican" who lives just across the street. The Edwards' palatial 28,000-square-foot estate, with indoor basketball court, indoor handball court, and indoor pool, sprawls upon 102 wooded acres. But Johnson's "Go Rudy Giuliani 2008" sign is only 100 feet from the entrance to the driveway.

Johnson is even said to have brandished a gun at trespassers, horrifying Elizabeth, who has never met the guy but has already resolved that she "wouldn't be nice to him."

She sniffs that his property is "slummy," and accuses him of refusing it to keep it up just to spite her snooty family. However, as Johnson explains:

I have to budget. I have to live within my means. I don't have millions of dollars to fix the place.

Johnson observes of Silky Pony, who made zillions fleecing doctors in dubious lawsuits:

I thought he was supposed to be for the poor people. But does he ever socialize with any poor people? He doesn't speak to me.

Good news for the Edwards clan: Johnson, whose family purchased the property before the Great Depression, has put it up for sale, citing excessive property taxes.

they certainly wouldn't appreciate me, then...

Sometimes even when they are sick, their real personalities show through. Assholes are assholes, through thick and thin.

Someone once said, Democrats love 'the people,' it's individual persons they can't stand.

One of the frustrating things about this is that it illustrates how the democrats have no desire to attempt to get along with Republicans.

They want to be in charge of the country, while showing absolute disregard for half it's population. That she considers Republicans to be not worth associating with is nothing new. That she and her husband want to run the country with that attitude is troubling.

The irony would be perfect if Johnson turned out to be an oncologist.

Liberals care about the great unwashed masses...they just don't want to live near them.

Turns out there are two Americas...and the Edwards live in the nice one.

Posted by: Ed at April 9, 2007 10:47 AM

Ms. Edwards has never met Johnson, but wouldn't be nice if she does meet him. Typical silly liberal. Mr. Johnson has lived there all his life, the Edwards are just moving in but expect the neighbors to 'change' to accommodate them. Typical silly liberals. This entire article shows how grossly hypocritical liberals are.

This is all in direct harmony with the liberals’ view of immigrants (legal and otherwise) in that they (silly liberals) now expect Americans to bend and partially assimilate to them rather than them assimilating to us (US). Own a pig but mosque is coming in next door? Better get rid of the pig!

Liberals are dangerously worthless. Never turn your back on one. (Their body guards are armed.)

I wonder how close you would get to their house, sneaking through the woods before you were confronted by armed men.
They just hire people to do their work, while casting their liberal tripe at people who dare to defend their own property.
Two Americas, the one that lives close to me and the other America that well...I don't want anything to do do with, except duping them into voting for me.

This duo is such phony campaigners.
The guy is the pretty one.
The one we are supposed to feel sorry for is a sorry one.
He preaches humble beginnings without acknowledging his lavish lifestyle.
He professes to be the savior of the poor, while she is poor of character.
He uses more makeup than she does.
They have made gross campaign mistakes while being ignorant of being grossly inept.
They tried to make us suffer with their personal woes, while their campaign woefully suffers every day.
Very rarely do I go after a person's personal characteristics when there is so much to go after them concerning policy issues.
These are bad people, not deserving of any public adulation..

After re-reading the article. It seems the Edwards dislike this man for three reasons:

1) he has a gun, and carried it when confronting trespassers

2) he has a "Go Rudy Giuliani 2008" sign on his property

3) his yard is "slummy", according to their standards

It's terrible that these kind of people want to represent us. She's never met him and doesn't know anything about him, but knows she wouldn't be nice to him...yet wants to REPRESENT him?!

What arrogance. What a snob. Reminds me of rich Victorian landowners standing for Parliament, who represent the landed classes, peasants be damned.

Libfucks. So tolerant and loving. At least I'm OPEN about my desire to annihilate the vermin.
