Moonbats Delighted With Tony Snow's Cancer
News that Tony Snow's cancer has returned was received with great sadness by the civilized world — and with venomous glee by moonbats. Here are some examples of comments on the topic at the liberal Wonkette:
Under the heading of 'What goes around comes around', the cancer in Tony Snow is removing the cancer of Tony Snow from the national scene.
Dear Tony, I hate you. -God
Let's see him spin this one away.
Jesus Christ!--is there NOTHING on earth the Bush flacks won't use for political gain?
The best (or worst) thing about Instant Karma is that it works.
Tell The Lying Sack of Crap To Suck It Up and Live With It
Look, this as*hole Snow, even though in a VERY small way, lied and helped keep this idiot fu**ing war going. […] Why waste a moment on the fate of Tony Snow or his colon/cancer?
Not all of Wonkette's readers are drunk on hatred. Here's a voice of reason:
May God bless Tony Snow and his family. Tony, I am praying for your full recovery. May God also bless those of you who have posted here without compassion. I am praying for your recovery as well.
But soon others come back with remarks like this:
Yes, the Holier Than Thou crowd is right. We should wish Tony, W, Cheney and Gonzales nothing but the best of health, so that we can then waterboard the shit out of them until they tell us the truth about, well, anything would be nice.
Funny, I don't recall any conservatives reacting like this when Elizabeth Edwards' cancer returned.
On a tip from Wiggins.

So...
If you post on Wonkette, you're a 'moonbat'?
Or, is it not liking Tony Snow?
Or, is a 'moonbat' someone who's insensitive toward their fellow man (in general)?
Damn this is confusing.

ChenZhen,
If you indulge in public displays of sadistic glee when prominent conservatives are diagnosed with cancer, you are probably a moonbat. Does that help?

Not really, as I just got done reading this column: Moonbats and other wackos - James Studdard
The term was used 14 times (if you include the title), and doesn't say anyting about displays of sadistic glee when hearing news of conservatives with cancer.
I'd call them 'assholes', personally.
BTW- if the same sentiment were expressed if news broke that, say, Al Gore had cancer, I assume that wouldn't be a 'moonbat' qualifier. So, is there a term for that?

One more question...
Are you the same Van Helsing that posts on LGF?
Posted by: ChenZhen at March 29, 2007 9:23 AM
Point #1 - Have you guys ever heard of TROLLS?? Is it not possible that when an incident like this happens that a republican POSING as a liberal could post nasty stuff and then blog about how terrible LIBERALS are for posting it?
Point #2 - Surely you know that there are nasty people in BOTH parties don't you? Here are just a few examples of comments that I found ON ONE SITE about Senator Tim Johnson's brain hemorrhage:
"may he get worse quick."

"YAY ! We might get a majority back !
I hope he doesnt get well. Seriously I dont give a shit about a Liberal Democrat who will sell out the country to terrorists. Hopefully the surgeon has shaky hands."

Speaking just for myself, I hope the guy doesn't recover

"Funny, I don't recall any conservatives reacting like this when Elizabeth Edwards' cancer returned."
That's because most conservatives are too polite and compassionate to say the kinds of heartless, insensitive things these lib cretins are saying.

Ah, the conspiracy theories about nasty commenting begin. I would have to say that I don't think these were trolls, as Daily Kos, one of the biggest online watering holes for libs, did not have any nasty comments about Tony Snow (that I could see, at any rate). It was refreshing, to say the least.
As for the idiots on the right who made such cruel and insensitive remarks about Sen. Johnson, they are just as reprehensible as those on the left gloating over Tony Snow's health issues. I don't think anyone who comments at Moonbattery regularly would hold any truck with those bottomfeeders. And if they do, I, for one, have no use for them.

No conspiracy necessary - It could be easily and often done by members of either party. Nasty people are just that.
I agree that these guys on Kos were probably not trolls, just pointing out the futility of moral indignation on this issue.

Beonda-
You're right, there is subversion taking place all the time on the blogs. This whole idea of making hay out of a comments section is a bit problematic. The subject is quite interesting though: Comments Do Not Necessarily Reflect The Views Of...

ChenZhen, regarding LGF, it looks like there's another Van Helsing out there.
Posted by: Van Helsing at March 29, 2007 11:35 AM
Beonda Pale;
Why did you post messages from the SAME poster THREE TIMES as an example of "conservative" posting? There are DOZENS of regular posters here, why didn't you pick one of us? Weren't our comments NASTY enough to support your claim?
I have talked to many lefties, both in person and on the net, I can attest to how mean and hateful they are. They are so full of themselves and so certain of how "moraly virtuous" they are, that anyone who disagrees with them are considered less than human, to at best be pitied.
Posted by: KHarn at March 29, 2007 3:28 PM
Anyone that delights in glee over someone else's misfortune - regardless of what side of the track they are on - the right side or the totally fucked up side - are simply assholes.
Posted by: Steve Harkonnen at March 30, 2007 5:44 AM
The broader point here is that the left assumes it can get away with such hate, whereas the right has been beaten with images of right-wing hatred for years and so is circumspect about saying things like that, much less believing them.
It is a position of perceived strength that the left issues such attacks. It also fits the whole "plantation/group of true believers" mentality, that they hold. Dissidents must be punished; any black not on the Democrat plantation must be trashed (Condi, Clarance Thomas, Powell); any scientist who dissents from the global warming religion must be trashed. Because the left's positions are mostly brittle ideologies, the response to attack is overwhelming, and the search for Trotskies is never-ending.
Also, fewer leftists lay claim to any spiritual beliefs (no, Islam is no spiritual credo), which removes from their consideration fellow-treatment of man. All they have is this world and thus every fight is one over the entire pie.

The term is "wingnut", Merriam-Webster. A wingnut is a moonbat on the other side of the political spectrum. Wingnuts are vastly outnumbered by moonbats. Not even close.
And yes, righties do indeed condemn wingnuts, all the time. Lefties largely embrace the moonbats, since they make up the bulk of the left's base.

Don't go just by what people post on blogs where they hide their identity. Get to know some people of the opposite political view.
Most people I've known on the left are naturally amoral. To put it bluntly, they think that the idea of being "good" or "nice" or "moral" is a conservative way of thinking, and should be avoided in favor of whatever pleases them at the moment without regard to others' feelings. Think don't in the least think of that as "bad", and in fact they think the idea of "bad" is outdated, a la moral equivalency.
Most conservatives I know are kind, normal, family people who actually consider other peoples' feelings.
I have never once had a liberal apologize to me for saying something hurtful or rude. Conservatives I know may say those things, but come back and apologize later.

Beonda,
Do you really think because your "futility of moral indignation theory" that we should not be indignant at those comments about Tony Snow?
Would you deny that we have the right to express our feelings about this subject?
