Teenage Transsexual
Apparently letting your kids eat too much is child abuse — but this isn't:
A German boy who is now fourteen has been receiving hormone treatments for years to prevent the onset of puberty.
His evidently deranged family has been encouraging him to think of himself as a girl since he was only two. Their pediatrician was appalled at what they wanted to do to him, so they took him to Dr. Bernd Meyenburg, who heads a clinic for children allegedly suffering from sexual identity problems at Frankfurt University.
Meyenburg says "it would have been a crime" to let the boy become a man, although he does admit that:
From a purely medical standpoint we are dealing with the mutilation of a biologically healthy body.
They haven't cut off the kid's genitals yet because German law forces them to wait until he's eighteen.

So exactly what should this child do? Go through puberty and adulthood with genitalia that he hates, causing him great psychological distress.
Since it is well known that most transsexuals are aware of their gender resentment at an early age, why not accomodate the person experiencing this dysphoric condition, earlier?
The child can therefore develop more easily into the desired gender and society can salute itself for the technology that makes this person happier.
To hell with what the naysayers would say. Their opinion is worthless when it comes to a person with such a problem. Most people of the west who are rooted in the Judeo-Christian ethic and inundated with Christian dogma and the subsequent stifling cultural mores, would not lift a finger or contribute a penny towards an alternative resolution for the poor lad anyway.
Just thank your god for judicious, brilliant, and merciful people such as Dr. Bernd Meyenburg for having the insight to authorize this seriously required transition.

The big problem isn't her(!) genitalia, it's only the problem for some people to recognize that she(!) is born as girl. A penis isn't a 100-percent-guarantee that you're a boy.

Van Helsing, you seem to be operating under the mistaken notion that this child's perents are forcing this on her. But it is clearly she is who making the final decisions about her own body, which is as it should be.
NudeGayWhalesForJesus, Am I to take it that you are gay? If so, how can you justify making dehumanizing remarks about your fellow oppressed minorities?

Well this post all but proves that Western Civilization is dead. The insane notions posted by the last few people show it to be the case. There is NO such thing as a person being "born in another body" or being "transexual." There is no such thing as being "born gay" either. The posters are living in the liberal deluded dreamworld where Tracie's "Christian dogma" and the Judeo-Christian building blocks of Western Civilization are major flaws that have resulted in Wolfgangs "oppressed minorites." Karl Marx couldn't have said it better Wolfgang. These liberal views are totally opposite of the values of Western Civilization and are destroying us. Those that defend the ideo a person should be able to take hormones to create a disgusting artificial version of the gender they are not a member of, is revolting. Tracie, Wolfgang, DoubleK, and Mark Angelo Cummings et al show us that we desperately need to return to our Christian heritage, because if we don't, who knows what horrors liberalism will bring next. The right to marry animals, anyone? It's next on the freaks' list.

"Western Civilization is dead?" Come on, honestly... And I suppose you would revive it by returning to Medieval European values? America was founded more on ancient Greek and Imperial Roman ideals than on Christian ones.
You don't believe that gays and transsexuals exist, but I bet you believe Jesus was born of a virgin and bodily raised from the dead.
Human biology is far more complex than "male and female he created them." In the womb, prior to eight weeks of age, your body was essentially female. A flood of androgen transformed you into a male. Does that make you a freak?

I hate to burst your bubble, not everyone is Christian. And this heritage you speak off is only 2,000 years old. Prior to Christianity, there were many transsexuals. The biblbe speaks of us as well. Your one track mindness, that can only compute gender identity and sexual preference as the only two sins of the world that will destroy mankind. How about Judging, hate, discrimination, thinking though are holier than we.
Get over youself and your religion. It can be seen as a delusional state of mind. One who hears voices and believes in a make believe diety. We once prayed to the God of Thunder, fire, Love, et. I am not saying we dont have a creator, but my creator does not judge me for a birth defect that was created by nature.
He can no more see me as currupt, than you for thinking it. If you studied more than the bible, you would learn that all fetuses start out as females. Its not until the intro of androgen which is triggered by a gene called the SRY gene, that the fetus develops male characteristics. Prior to that the default is female. Now there are many mutations, and variations that take place. As we see in individual that are born with complete androgen insensitivity syndrome, Intersexed, or any variation. Transsexuality is a form of intersex.
As far as homosexuality, 1500 animal species engage in homosexual activities. It is a natural ritual amongst many species.
We are programed to be bisexual according to the latest scientific evidence.
Why must you religious fundamentalist have such hang ups on sex. It is so basic and an elementary way of thinking. There are bigger fishes to fry, bigger problems to solve. Stop being so anal, literally, and go about your business.
Look at all the sins in the world. Eating lobster, wearing two types of fabrics, having sex for none procreation purposes, et.....
Please get off the mighty horse, and pray to your God to give you wisdom, and remove your lashing tongues.

Well buy it, because according to the merk manual a child know their gender identity at 18 to 24 months of age. Did you not know you were a boy or a girl? Did someone have to tell you?
Hey tommy you are a boy okay.....
No we know this, remember, we are not talking about sexual preference here. That comes later.
We are talking identity.... This is hard wired in the brain at 8 weeks gestation and we know about it at 2 years old. Look at your average child, a girl knows she is a girl, she like dresses, dolls, is prim an proper.
Now, there is a complex continuum of this.. That is why we see masculine girls or feminine boys. Depending on the hormonal mix would depend on how a person identifies and how uncomfortable they are with there physical sex.
