Heroic Border Guards Start Prison Terms
Today is the grim day that two courageous Border Patrol agents begin the draconian prison terms to which they were sentenced for attempting to do their job.
Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) calls President Bush a "disgrace" for refusing to pardon Jose Alonso Compean and Ignacio Ramos. He considers it a "cruel game" that Border Patrol agents are asked to defend a border that authorities do not want defended, only to be knifed in the back when they try to take their job seriously.
Compean and Ramos are not even to be allowed to remain free on bail during the appeals process. The two were sentenced to 12 and 11 years respectively for wounding Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila, an illegal alien who had just smuggled 750 pounds of marijuana across the border, who assaulted Compean, and who they thought had a gun.
After Aldrete-Davila escaped, Homeland Security sent a bureaucrat to Mexico to offer him full immunity in exchange for his testimony against the Border Patrol agents. US taxpayers paid for the criminal's treatment at an El Paso hospital.
Compean and Ramos are not expected to have fun in jail. As T.J. Bonner of the National Border Patrol Council notes:
Bad cops are accepted by the prison population, but good cops are not. They'll be surrounded by people they arrested.
But that's not President Bush's problem.
Complains Rohrabacher:
The word is out that the southern border is undefended. Border agents won't dare to draw their weapons, and the drug cartel will double their effort to drive a wedge in our border.
Obviously Bush doesn't think that's his problem either.

Laura Ingraham was talking about this this morning. I was livid.
We might as well have Mexico's president in the White House.
And of course, some poor little Muslims showed up for their flights back to the US from their "hajj pilgrimage" about 15 or 20 minutes before their flight was scheduled to depart, and they weren't allowed to board, so now they're screaming discrimination. I wonder what the chances are that that whole scenario was planned from the start just so they could whine and moan. Hopefully the airline won't kiss their buttocks.

I'm with Rohrabacher...W is a disgrace.
The only mistake these men made was not
killing Aldrete-Davila. And if they voted for W
then that was again their mistake.
What's spanish for "Bush is a wuss" ?

You're right Steve, we may as well be part of Mexico (Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas already are). On the other hand, we may soon have Barack Osama as prez, and blacks (at least a lot of the ones I've known) tend to not like the hispanics much. By the way, does anyone else notice that these men are also hispanic? Anyone else wonder how much longer till the U.S. has another civil war split along ethnic/racial lines? Recently, another blogger noted that he was listening to a hispanic comic perform and one of his jokes was "it won't do any good to change immigration laws, because everywhere you look, someone's (expletive)-ing a latino." Sometimes I wonder if we aren't surrendering our countries to the others because no white/European country has a birth rate high enough to sustain it.

Between this and giving up the terrorist surveillance program, it's like Bush doesn't even give a damn about the security of American citizens any more.

While Bush is still better than John Kerry, its not by all that much.
The very fact these heroes should spend 1 second in jail is appalling to the nth degree. Instead of being in jail Bush should be inviting them to dinner at the White House, presenting them with a full pardon and pinning a medal on their chests.
The one thing those leftists have that the rest of us dont is top notch protestors. Where are the people with picket signs circling the White House demanding a pardon for these 2 guys? I realize leftists tend to be unemployed losers with alot of time on their hands, but surely there are some regular Americans who have the time and money to devote to the cause of these 2 American heroes.

While Bush is still better than John Kerry, its not by all that much.
Between amnesty, ending the terrorist sureveillance program, raising taxes as part of a social security "fix" and embracing ManBearPig, I think Bush is fixing to let his liberal elite freak-flag fly his last two years.
The only difference is, the lefties would probably give the drug dealer an honorary degree from Evergreen State, then run him for Congress from a gerry-mandered minority-only district.

i just spoke with my husband a few minutes ago on the cell - he was upset upon hearing on the radio that ahnold is going to ensure that immigrants (illegal and otherwise) will receive unemployment benefits due to the great freeze and the fact the migrants cannot pick the citrus. he said they'd even mail the checks to mexico!
i've been searching for something about it in the news this morning and cannot find a thing.
so glad to be out of californistan.
oh yeah! and TOM TANCREDO FOR PRESIDENT!
