Fifth Column Takes Control of the House Judiciary Committee

Democrats have officially taken over Congress, and the stars have not yet fallen out of the sky. But that's not to say we are not in some very deep trouble. Consider that John Conyers is now Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. He's the guy that submitted the following resolution, less than four years after 9/11:
Resolved, That the House of Representatives —
1. condemns bigotry, acts of violence, and intolerance against any religious group, including our friends, neighbors, and citizens of the Islamic faith;
2. declares that the civil rights and civil liberties of all individuals, including those of the Islamic faith, should be protected;
3. recognizes that the Quran, the holy book of Islam, as any other holy book of any religion, should be treated with dignity and respect; and
4. calls upon local, State, and Federal authorities to work to prevent bias-motivated crimes and acts against all individuals, including those of the Islamic faith.
It all sounds very noble and high-minded, at a superficial glance. But why is Islam singled out in each case? Democrats certainly don't seem to have a problem with bigotry against Christians; nor are they like to demand that Bibles be "treated with dignity and respect." But as of September 11, 2001, all things Muslim have a special appeal for liberals.
As Baron Bodissey wisely observes at Gates of Vienna, the goal of Conyers and his friends at CAIR is effectively to add another item to the list above:
5. Muslims are the equivalent of a racial minority.
That is, they are to be officially designated a privileged class. Saying anything they don't want you to say is "hate speech" and will not be tolerated. Therefore resisting their ongoing efforts to first dhimmify and then Islamicize the West will not be tolerated.
It's as if fifth-column Congressmen during WWII passed resolutions paving the way toward criminalizing criticism of Nazis and Japanese imperialism.
No amount of squishy politically correct B.S. can change the fact that whether or not we are at war with Islam, Islam is at war with us. The guy now chairing the Judiciary Committee has made it crystal clear which side he's on. And the rest of his party doesn't seem to have a problem with it.
