Another Brit Dies of Bureaucratically Mandated Ambulance Breaks
On the last day of 2006, a 73-year-old London man died after waiting 20 minutes for an ambulance, because ambulance workers who were only 5 minutes away could not be disturbed during their break according to the European Working Time Directive. Now it has happened again already.
A 21-year-old in Tottenham waited 14 minutes for an ambulance from King's Cross. There were two crews much closer, but both were on break and couldn't be disturbed. He was declared DOA when he finally arrived at the hospital, where he might have received life-saving treatment for his cardiac arrest had they gotten him there on time.
Bureaucrats have decided that paramedics working at the same station should be given breaks simultaneously, contributing to the lethal delays.

Being married to a Brit, and having in-laws over there, I get a lot of "feedback".
I will be nice here and say, as bad as one may think it's gotten here....it's so bad there, I'd choose to live in the south pole instead. I mean it.

I will always think that my aunt in Britain died because of strikes where medical technician walked out.
