Also Crossing the Unguarded Border: Lethal Brain Worms
Posted by Dave Blount at January 14, 2007 9:29 PM
As if we hadn't already collected enough compelling reasons to close our southern border immediately, it now comes to light that illegal aliens are smuggling in not only drugs and themselves, but also a rare brain worm that can be fatal.
Several cases of cysticercosis have been diagnosed in South Texas recently. The disease is normally found in third-world countries like Mexico.
The disease is caused by the pork tapeworm Taenia solium. After larvae are ingested, they pass through the wall of the intestine and then form cysts that migrate throughout the body, sometimes lodging in the eyes, spinal cord, or brain.
But at least cysticercosis doesn't cause you to sweat tar or extrude weird multicolored fibers through your skin like Morgellons disease, another apparent Mexican import that has spread through South Texas.
On a tip from Wiggins.
